This or That? - Ask your quick questions here!

Have a quick question about our new challenges? Ask them here for an official answer, and we'll update this post with our most common Q&As to keep our monthly threads clean and tidy!

Can I do any 15 challenges I want?

You MUST choose either option a or b for each numbered challenge to complete your challenge requirements for the month and earn your Sweet Rewards!

Where do I find the font mentioned in one of this month's challenges?

The image itself will always link to the font in question and we'll also include a link to any offsite resource in our challenge quick list in post #2 of our monthly thread when applicable.

I got busy or forgot that it was Sweet Rewards week. Can I get a new discount coupon to use?

Unfortunately, keeping track of individual coupons out of Sweet Rewards week is a lot of work, so we will not be able to create new coupons for individuals outside this special period each month. If you're having technical difficulties with a coupon during Sweet Rewards week, contact Vanessa in a reply to the PM she sent with your coupon or reach out to Robin via our contact page and we'll do our best to help.

Will you be doing an inspirations thread?
When I'm stuck or need help seeing different ways of interpreting a challenge, I have found the inspirations thread a big help. <----- I do realize I can just go to the Passport/This or That Gallery.

I always wondered if people really went to look for inspiration (other than me). LOL!!!!

I do, too! Even when I'm not doing the challenges, I look in the inspiration thread for inspiration.

cinna 01-01-2022 10:05 AM

The Inspiration thread has helped me a lot during past challenges. Especially when I get stuck or get confused on what the topic means.... <3

I do A LOT. I'll have an idea and wonder if I'm too "out" there and see if anyone else is doing something similar. Sometimes I'll scroll through the thread where we post our passport links looking for a specific challenge and that helps too if someone has completed the challenge. As far as looking specifically in the gallery - I get all muddled on that when searching and I never add another category to mine when I upload, so they wouldn't show up.

Lidia G 01-01-2022 01:09 PM

I gravitate more toward scrolling through where we post our passport links if I need inspiration for a specific challenge. I find it's quicker and I don't get sidetracked by all the other beautiful layouts I see in the inspiration thread. I will scroll through the inspiration thread if I need inspiration to create especially if my mojo is low.

Robin Carlton 01-01-2022 01:52 PM

Hmmm... we weren't planning on having a full inspiration thread this time around since we feel the challenges are pretty straightforward, especially with the options and Babe samples for each challenge. I also felt like that thread got a bit overwhelming with every layout posted for every challenge, but I'm open to reconsidering that if you guys feel like it's something you're really missing. Can we try it for a month with the Show off & Shout Out companion thread, and revisit this question a little later this month if you're really feeling like you're missing that Inspiration Portal thread? Give it a whirl as-is, and then let us know if you're feeling like you need / want it next month!

Works for me...I mostly used that thread when I was really needing inspiration when the mojo was low, but when I was looking for something specific I scrolled through the passport links in everyone's personal post.

Leablahblah 01-01-2022 03:17 PM

I think the tracker thread might actually be easier for us to find inspiration from others because we don't have to scroll but just click on the specific links to the one challenge we need inspiration for.

But I did enjoy looking at other pages with a scroll too!

craftytam 01-01-2022 03:18 PM

There's a section in the Gallery for This or That Challenge layouts here:

https://www.sweetshoppecommunity.com...ry.php?cat=710

It's a good way to find inspiration. Just remember to add it (along with the designer whose kit you used) under "optional categories" when you upload.

I totally get in my head sometimes and I am not even sure if that's what the challenge meant so the thread is cool!

I think it will be a new way to look for inspiration.

The new shout it would work if people POST the picture and not just a link to the page they are proud and the page they are shouting out from someone.

I was wondering about adding to the designer's gallery as I'm not on the store or any designer CT's. It doesn't come up that often as I usually use so many kits from so many designers ;) - but occasionally I do create with only one designer - wasn't positive whether I should or shouldn't post to their gallery. I have had designers message me and ask me to put in their galleries - and haven't been kicked out of any so far.. :D .. but I've never been sure about the preferred etiquette.

You are welcome to post to specific designer's categories! They love seeing pages with their stuff in there from everyone <3

This may be a silly question but someone else may not know either. Exactly what does the OWL stand for? ie OWL: Goals; OWL: Accomplishments

No question is ever silly :)

It stands for ‘one little word’

Like Jaye said, it stands for One Little Word. But some scrappers may not be familiar with the concept. Basically, it's choosing a word to be your focus for the year. Some examples I've seen people choose are words like balance, thrive, healthy, explore, and change.

Like the girls already responded One Little World, I think it started many many many years ago with Ali Edwards from the scrapbooking world.

Option 11 -- What if you have no children? How do we adapt this challenge?

Do you have pets? Pets can be like our children. That would be my first thought.
Next I think of my daughter, who refers to herself as the "mom" of her friend group, so she could scrap a page about one of her friends and how she "mothers" her with advice.

If neither of those, then I think of stuffed animals, and how we get attached to them like children.

Just some ideas, Hope that helps

What about nieces or nephews?
Maybe future children?
Maybe children of a good friend?

Just ideas :)

I need some clarification to this one:

12a - Scrap with products from Featured Designer Christine OR
12b - Scrap with products from Featured Designer Erica

So I am guessing that Erica is Erica Zane right? But which designer is Christine?
Sorry, but I don´t know the first name of every designer... :o

What about your experiences as a daughter? What would your mom say about you? :) What would you tell your past self about being a teenage daughter and who it shaped you today? What would you have changed/kept the same?

You must have a total of 10 posts before you will be able to "create" a thread. As of right now, you have only 2.

I have a question to this option: 1b - Scrap a layout with 4 photos, 8 papers, 12 words & 24 elements

Counts this snow scatter as one element?

Yes a scatter element is still just ONE element.

Robin, do we need to link all of our layouts or just post the finished tracker like we used to? I don't see it in the rules that we need to link everything in a list - that seems to be the thing everyone is doing lately. I just wanted to check before I spent all the time linking up layouts if I don't need to - LOL.

cherrygutz 01-16-2022 06:36 PM

Actually, all you need to post is the tracker Loni has made with 120px by 120px layout in each of the boxes.

MrsPeel 01-29-2022 05:57 AM

hey, hey, so...I'm back (or kinda? LOL)

specific question :
The OLW, do we need to have the word ACCOMPLISHMENT in the page?
or can I just represent an accomplishment?

also about the tracker...is imperious to do the tracker? or can I link the challenges in the list?

Scrap-therapy 01-31-2022 10:33 AM

Hey you!:)

Hope I can help you, I think the OLW don't have to appear in your layout, it can represent it. I did scrap my kids for this one so I think this is ok!:p
For the tracker, I'm not sure, for me you have to do it but I can be wrong on this one.
Anyone could help here's?:D

You don't need links. You actually need to post the tracker. From the rules: "Simply upload your FULL SIZE completed tracker to an image hosting site like Imgur, Dropbox, Google Photos, etc. so that we can see your 1150px wide image in its full glory by 11:59pm EST on Monday, January 31st, 2022, and your Sweet Rewards will be automatically sent to you by our Challenge Fairy Vanessa..."

I think that's fine. We're all about the challenges inspiring you. From the main thread..."So... like I mentioned earlier, get creative and most importantly, have fun! We aren't ever looking to disqualify someone from their chance to earn rewards or win sweet stuff, so if you think a page you're creating fits the challenge, go for it!"

Can we use kits from the new designers like Pink Reptile Designs and the new designer that is coming this weekend that they have not yet put in their store. I know they will probably be adding kits a little at time. what if I want to scrap a page with one of their kits I have that they haven't added to the store yet? Is that possible or does the kit have to be in the store now?
