There are no instructions :( I have seen these blocks many times in the hardware store but also know how hard it is to cut glass. So does anyone have any idea if there is a tutorial online somewhere?

You can get those at any craft store, I have a few...

you can buy those at Michaels, JoAnns and Hobby Lobby. About 10 bucks for the big one. I made this one last year: http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/c...s/IMG_4491.jpg

I came across some at Lowes and Home Depot as well, during the holiday season last year.

I use to make these all the time - I had a table top drill press (cost apprx. $40) and a diamond bit that I used to drill a 1" hole in the back of the block. We put the table top drill press in my sink and ran a easy stream of water on the surface of the block to prevent cracking of the block. I know, electricity and water - not good but the cord wasn't in the water. for my blocks, I paid around $4 for the block and used spray on Kilz on the edges and back to help light the whole block. I printed on Avery Sticker paper, attached it to the block and then put a clear laminating sheet over the printed sticker paper. lasts for.ever!!

I use a single bulb light like those used in ceramic houses in mine and put things like scrapbook pages/photos/etc. on the front. This was for a baby gift.

I never cared for the strands of lights used in the blocks - it was cute for a "present" block light with a giant bow but it never lit up the block for other styles of blocks.

What a pretty idea. I like the photo inside! And the wording can be done with either etched glass vinyl and etching cream. Nice easy gift idea!

This particular project is a breeze - a plastic box (that looks like glass) from Uppercase Living that opens completely and snaps back together. Add vinyl lettering (also from Uppercase Living) and some rocks from the dollar store, your framed photo, and finish it up with a ribbon. So simple and adorable! www.uppercaseliving.com

Does anyone know where to get the template for the word "family" or if there are other words available?

What a wonderful project! I'd love the instructions.

I also love all the other ideas that were posted. I should head to Michaels today.

Thanks for sharing, girls!
