What Olympic sport would you want to compete in?

Assuming you were physically able to and had the skills, training . . . .yada yada yada . . .

I think I'd want to do some sort of rowing event. Rowing has always been fascinating to me.

nikkiARNGwife 08-11-2008 02:57 PM

I haven't watched the Olympics in years..but I was about 10 when May Lou Retton won the gold medal in 1984 and I was SOO determined to be a gymnast after that...lol...too bad my mom wouldn't let me take classes... lol!

Shawna 08-11-2008 03:00 PM

I always wanted to be a gymnast, even took classes and all that when I was younger. But I never stuck with it, too much work lol!

But I have to say that Michael Phelps is a total hottie, maybe I'd rather be a swimmer instead ;)

pomi 08-11-2008 03:01 PM

Long jump :) .

...you mean so that you could meet him in the warm up area and just say "Good luck, Michael!" and he'd say "Good luck, Shawna. See you later!" ;)

kscwgirl 08-11-2008 03:03 PM

Javelin. I actually threw for a while in high school but I just don't have that much upper arm strength. LOL I also love gymnastics.

DawnMarch 08-11-2008 03:05 PM

Definitely gymastics, though I agree that I wouldn't want to work that hard!

lhaslem 08-11-2008 03:10 PM

gymnastics for sure - I can remember watching the Olympics (when Mary Lou Retton was the big thing) and wanting to be just like her and those other girls.

I did catch the fencing girls the other night and that kinda looked fun too:)

Yep that's exactly why lol! Although I'd probably never get any training done, I'd be too busy staring! They said he's really good friends with that one female swimmer (her name is escaping me right now lol), being "friends" wouldn't be too bad I think!

You'd swim backstroke! :)

Robin Carlton 08-11-2008 03:14 PM

Swimming for sure. I LOVE to swim!

lovely1m 08-11-2008 03:17 PM

For summer: swimming. I LOVE swimming and I love to do it. I was on the swim team when I was younger, but the best I ever did was win a heat on my own. lol

For winter: snowboarding!

iJenny 08-11-2008 03:21 PM

Well, first I'd be a world-class javelin thrower so that I could make Breaux Greer fall in love with me and we'd make little javelin-throwing babies together...
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q.../Hotties/1.jpg

but if I was being serious about doing a sport, it would be volleyball. I played it competitively growing up and I just love everything about it.

lizzyfizzy 08-11-2008 03:25 PM

i'd want to be a horse in equestrain! no really, volleyball. it's my thang!

or gymnastics. it looks like sooo much fun. how they manipulate their bodies to defy gravity like that blows my mind!

ColleenSwerb 08-11-2008 03:25 PM

In this dream land, I'd def be a swimmer. I would LOVE to have a body like that. Plus, I love the water :)

If we're talking a lttle close to reality, it'd definitely be soccer. I LOVE soccer and played for forever. If I wasn't such a smarty pants and didn't go to such a huge school, I would've tried to play in college.

mrs_jb 08-11-2008 03:27 PM

I would have to say swimming. I come from a family of swimmers, so it's always been something that interested me, but I just don't have the skill.

BrattyMeg 08-11-2008 03:28 PM

It's Katie Hoff Shawna...They train together :) (uh huhhh)

I did gymnastics for about 9 years (started with I was 3) then I hit a growth spurt and it was all over for me (although i stopped at 5'4 lol)

I LOVE swimming though..swam for my highschool team. I could rock an IM relay

Tracie Stroud 08-11-2008 03:30 PM

I would looooove to do figure skating. I've always dreamed of doing it. Not much chance, since I live in Louisiana. lol

LOL :D

I tried out for fencing in high school and didn't make it past the first day I think. My thighs ached for like 3 days afterward.

um, am I the only one who thinks that swimmers have weird-looking bodies?

Yes.

Julie Billingsley 08-11-2008 03:35 PM

Beach Volleyball! Hot bodies, great beaches.. .yep, that would be my sport!

Paula 08-11-2008 03:36 PM

Definitely diving and swimming.

Without question, Women's hockey.

No.

KristinCB 08-11-2008 03:48 PM

When I was little I definately would have said gymnastics. I watched the movie "nadia" and became OBSESSED with gymnastics and made my mom put me in lessons - then discovered I'm a huge wimp and was scared of doing anything so that didn't last all that long.

Now.. oh I would LOVE to be a swimmer. I would love to be able to swim like that and have that kind of endurance (and body!)

Don't look at their legs, look at the rest - yummyyyy :)

alansrock 08-11-2008 03:56 PM

I swam the Butterfly & Freestyle in high school so I would be all over that!

i tried shot put in high school. the sprinters could throw it farther than I could. saaad.

DawnMarch 08-11-2008 04:08 PM

speaking of weird-looking bodies -- I'm sorry, but those gymnasts are unnaturally stubby.

I agree!

Laura_A 08-11-2008 04:17 PM

Gymnastics for me... or Figure Skating.

aggiefamily 08-11-2008 04:20 PM

Do they have an event in napping?

I like scyronized swimming. I can hold my breath under water for a long time. And shooting. I can shoot a gun pretty well.

How very Canadian of me to just assume everyone knew I meant ice hockey. :D But the movie does look very good!

newfiemountiewife 08-11-2008 04:35 PM

Figure skating LOL...I wish I had lived somewhere with elite training. Sigh.

Summer Olympics...definitely diving! But I'm too much of a wimp to do that!

jessica31876 08-11-2008 04:44 PM

ice skating, some sort of swimming event or volleyball(is that an olympic sport? LOL)

MelissaL88 08-11-2008 04:53 PM

Soccer, swimming or track. I played soccer in Jr. High/High School, ran Track (I was a hurdler) in Jr. High and I just LOVE to swim. I can hold my own with Free, back & breast strokes, but I can't butterfly to save my life. LOL! But, since my oldest son (he's 9) has decided he wants to train for the Olympics, I guess I'm going to get better at those stokes

It's funny, when I was in Jr. High (I think), we tried gymnastics during PE. I have the crappiest balance of anyone I know...I kept falling off the balance beam and it was only about 2 inches off the ground

LOL, it occurred to me about 5 minutes after I posted that you might have meant ice hockey :o

stayawake 08-11-2008 05:09 PM

Equestrian!
I LOVE horses, but havn't had the opportunity to take lessons much, just ride at camp where my brother took lessons and then beame the barn director and head riding instructor! SUCH a cool sport!

Brooke W 08-11-2008 05:20 PM

Since the only athletic thing I was ever good at was riding horses, it'd definitely be certain equestrian events, lol. Never the 3 day events; cross country is just too dangerous  , i'm not that gutsy, lol.
It'd be dressage most likely (it's pronounced dress-AZH', it's a French word)
most likely for me.
It's also one of the many events I don't get on our cable service because NBC wants an exorbatant amount of money for their events they don't consider major on the other nbc affliate networks  .

LeeAndra 08-11-2008 05:25 PM

Ha ha. In the Dr. Seuss-esque world that would need to exist for me to (a) work out regularly, (b) care abt competing and/or being the best, and (c) provide me the $$ and time to train FT w/o needing to worry abt bills... the only sport I'd be interested in would be tantric making out. :p

Breaux and Michael... line up, boys! There is plenty of LA's luscious lips to go around! :)

Stacey42 08-11-2008 05:33 PM

The uneven bars. I think that is as close to flying as you can get.

EveRecinella 08-12-2008 02:30 AM

Winter - Figure Skating

Summer - Diving
