I need blog help...pretty please???

So I finally started a blog. It's going to be family and scrappy b/c I can't handle 2. It's sooooooooo plain and white and boring. I want it to be pretty and stand out. What can I do? Obviously I need to make a header...but what size? I'm guessing I can figure out how to add that part. What about a background, though? How do you do that? I know, I know...I sound dumb again. Just think of it as my trademark. :p

TIA!

lizzyfizzy 08-22-2008 01:19 PM

i'm totally with you. that is why my blog still sucks!

Becca Bonneville 08-22-2008 01:22 PM

Nikki Epperson 08-22-2008 01:22 PM

OMGosh, thanks for letting me know before I spent tons of time trying to figure it out!!! Yay! So happy!

Becca Bonneville 08-22-2008 01:59 PM

Anytime Jennifer!!

Sarah8914 08-22-2008 02:13 PM

It's easy-peasy to do your own though. :) If you don't want to spend extra money that is.... Just create a header--I always start at 10x3 or 10x4 so I don't have to resize all the papers and elements and then the size depends on your template. Blogger will resize now, but it's not always perfect. I think one of my blogs ix 800 pixels wide... but like I said, they're all different.

For the background (at least for blogger), you can just add this code:

background-image:url(your photobucket direct link here);

In the body section of the html stuff. :) You can see mine in my siggy. :)

Jennifer 08-22-2008 02:41 PM

Wow, Sarah, yours looks amazing. I love the colors. You even made your own little headers! Wow! So impressed. I'm going to try what you said, too. Wish me luck. :)

How do you get all your CT blinkies to line up and keep animations so nicely? Do you use one of the "gadget" things?

TIA!

lizzyfizzy 08-22-2008 02:44 PM

yay...so someone is making mini computer literate robots that can come to my house and do things for me!!! soooo excited for my new robot.

i found a template somewhere for my blog, but i'm bored with it now. I would prefer to make my own header and backgroung but i have been afraid to, lol. maybe i'll give it a try now.

There are directions on how to make your blog all pretty at www.thecutestblogontheblock.com It took me a couple of tries to get it just right, but now that I know how to change my background, my blog will be getting a makeover often!!

It isn't too hard to decorate your blog yourself, but not everyone has the time or desire to sit and make everything. So blog wear does come in handy and really doesn't cost that much.

junebug 08-22-2008 07:25 PM

Check it out!!! I did it all by myself! I'm so proud, lol. I used Still One of the Gang. I gotta put those credits on there somewhere yet, but here is my newly beautified blog!

lizzyfizzy 08-22-2008 07:26 PM

sooo pretty, corey!!

meems 08-22-2008 07:57 PM

Corey, that looks great! :) I'm waiting until tomorrow before I do anything with mine. We'll see what I can do, then! I'm all about making it easy. :)

Anyone able to tell me how to add/line up blinkies in the side column??? Please?

TIA! :)

Jennifer 08-23-2008 11:09 PM

I got Zoe's Blog in a Box and it was sooooooooooo easy! I have some tweaking to do and some posts, pics, etc to add, but I'm so glad I got it! Def. money well spent! :)

meems 08-23-2008 11:48 PM

your blog looks great, Jennifer!

I want a pretty blog now! don't have the brainpower/time to attack it yet though.

Mandy 08-24-2008 01:39 AM

I just finished revamping mine. It took quite a bit of HTML editing but I love it.

Christy Lyle 08-24-2008 02:45 AM

Your blogs looks RAD, Corey, Jennifer and Mandy!!!

pomi 08-24-2008 04:31 AM

Oh I agree, they all look fabulous!!!! Great job!

Sarah8914 08-24-2008 09:28 AM

I would totally love to buy some blogwear--my only problem is that I like to change my blog often--like, every 2-3 months... and that would be pricey. :)

mormishmom 08-24-2008 05:34 PM

I just updated mine too! You all inspired me. I used Kristin's Baby On Board kit and I'm thinking I'll leave it up until this baby is born. Sarah, I'm like you, I like to change often. For awhile I changed every month and then I kind of did a season theme. It's just kind of fun. But I agree, that it can be time consuming to get everything with the html just right.

I got this. The directions look wonderful, but I've got to get the nerve up to tackle it,lol. I haven't worked much with HTML, it skeers me,lol. My poor little blog definitely needs a face lift.

Traci Reed 08-24-2008 06:48 PM

BAH! ya'll are making me want a blog again!!

junebug 08-24-2008 07:04 PM

Thanks everyone! I never thought I'd ever figure out how to make my blog look pretty. but i did. "I R smart!" lol

stayawake 08-24-2008 08:38 PM

I started my blog (kinda everything: family/scrap/faith/food...etc.) a few weeks ago, and was SOO excited about Zoe's Blog in a Box. :) I've got mine all decorated, so now I don't feel like i have a 'naked' blog anymore. :) Pretty soon I'll try and customize mine a little more... now that I have some code! LOL

meems 08-24-2008 09:55 PM

awww, you all have such pretty blogs now!

Go for it, it seriously took less than an hour (and wouldn't have taken that long if I hadn't had distractions). It was really a lot of fun!
