I need some help from you sneaky type people....
LOL Okay, since I can't ask on the day of... I'm going to the NKOTB concert on the 11th. Now... I'm hoping to get my dslr in. However, I clearly am not going to be able to get my zoom lens in. Anybody have any brilliant ideas for me to get the zoom past security?? LOL
|
Ummm...only one very painful solution comes to mind...... :p
|
Darcy!! LOL I don't think it would fit.
|
WHo's opening for them there Sara?
Natasha Bedingfield opened last night here in Atl |
um..use your kit lens? Doesn't it have a decent zoom on it...for this purpose and it's much smaller

Times like those, I wear a very baggy sweater or sweatshirt and stick it in the front of my jeans band and cover it with a baggy top and my coat, zipped up.
|
Same.. we have Natasha too. :) I don't have bad seats, exactly, it's just that the zoom would make for much better pictures. Of Jon. And whichever one LA makes me take pics of.
|
I have to say, the one NKOTB concert I went to (in 1993 LOL) was awesome!
Jordan did that white tshirt ripped open while standing on a big box with wind blowing on him dance thing. I dont like Jordan but it was cool. :D |

well I honestly think if you got one of those big hobo style bags it would be ok. When we go to places like that here they just use a stick and kinda poke around in the bag but dont really look to good. I think the search is more or less looking for weapons over a camera. BTW why cant you take a camera in?? Do they have a rule about cameras in concerts or the NKOTB concert? Ive always taken my camera to every concert Ive ever gone to with no problems
|
Shut up Col. :p
The ticket says no cameras. So I'm hopeful that I'll be able to take something in at all. LOL |
My girlfriends and I used to sneak our point and shoots into concerts by sticking it in our cleavage :) Does that help at all :p

Quick, sew a pouch big enough to fit your lens and then on the side, sew or fabric paint the letters T A M P O N S.
I betcha that'll work. |
Bwahahahha, Mandy! Awesome.
|
I got mine into the Kurt Browning skating show a few weeks ago LOL.
The camera itself fit into my purse (and I have a small purse) without the lens. I have a Canon Rebel XT. I put the lens in my coat pocket. Once I got seated, I put that sucker together, and got some great pics. LOL! |
If you take a big enough bag with a zippered pocket, the probably won't catch it. I always sneak stuff in that way *puts Halo on head*

OK, I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade here....but last year a good friend of mine snuck her good camera into a concert and a security guard caught her with it and confiscated it! Of course, she eventually was able to get it back, but they deleted all the pics she took (which I guess is their legal right??) and she had to go to the extent of threatening to hire an attorney and it took WEEKS to get her camera back. Now, hopefully this was just a freak thing, but ever since then I only sneak in those disposable cameras....yikes!
|
What do all the initials stand for for the concert? Yes, i'm old and have no idea who you're talking about :p
|
Not listening to Jen. LOL
Brooke, it's New Kids On The Block. |

|
Crap crap crap. Okay. Ignore this thread. LOL I just called Sprint Center. no cameras. Boooooooooooo. Looks like I'll try to sneak in the crappy point and shoot and see what happens. LOL
|
Hey do they sell disposable cameras with a zoom lens? LOL

I think. Not a great zoom though. I think thats kinda silly that you cant take a camera. You gotta pay money to see them you should at least be able to take a couple pics

there are also disposable cameras which take video and disposable digital cameras

You're the best Jessica, thanks!!!

Our tickets said no cameras too but everyone had them inside. We thought we had to hide ours and even lied when my friend set off the metal detectors (It was in her pants). Once we got inside, everyone had a camera out in the open and it wasn't a big deal and no one said anything about it. At one point, Donnie took some cameras from fans and took pictures of himself and the other guys before giving the cameras back.

DUDE. Man. I so want to take my DSLR. Sigh. What to do, what to do...... |
That sucks - but I would be wayyyy to scared to take a good camera!
|
Well, I took mine in, but they weren't horribly strict on security, at least it seemed that way to me. It was also a small venue, just about 6,000 people, so it wasn't huge. If they have metal detectors, I'm not sure I would do it!
|
Ummm...IDK. I'd want to take it too, but would die if some security guard tried to steal it. Unless you can go w/ Darcy's idea *snort* I'm just not sure.
|
I wouldn't bother sneaking the DSLR unless you had good/floor seats. If you're any farther away, it will be too dark, too crowded, and too far even with a zoom.
Your best bet is to bring a coat/jacket with a pocket on the inside to stick your p&s in. They might make take your coat off to visually pat you down (you know what I mean) and will likely pilfer through your purse, but I've never had anyone search my coat at shows like that. |
And Joey was always my fave.
