Mint Cake Ball Recipe
I used it last year and got it from here, but now I don't know where it is. And I NEED some mint cake/brownie balls! :)
|
Sounds yummy! I'll look forward to the recipe when it gets posted...

This one is one I snagged from Andrea Burns..I guess 2 years ago? lol
Cake Balls 1 package cake mix 1 can of frosting 1 package of chocolate almond bark (Can use semi-sweet baking chocolate too) wax paper 1. Cook cake mix according to directions on the box. 2. Let cake cool. 3. Crumble cake in a bowl. 4. Mix approximately 1/3 container of frosting until smooth dough forms 5. Roll cake into balls, packing tightly 6. Melt almond bark 7. Drop balls into chocolate until coated. (I use a fork to lift balls out of chocolate so excess chocolate can drain through the tongs on the fork) 8. Place balls on wax paper to harden. You can use any combination of frosting and cake mix. The cake should make approximately 60 balls. You can make the cake ahead of time and freeze the balls before dipping into the chocolate. To make festive - you can put candy bits on top while chocolate is cooling. For Christmas, you can put crushed candy cane bits. For Valentine's day you could use crushed ret hots....etc. |
My fave is red velvet mix, cream cheese icing, and either choc sprinkles or peppermint!
|
I want to try these so bad, lol...and I REALLY want to find a red velvet mix. I have never seen one, but want to try it!
|
yummmmmmmmmmm I love cake balls. Totally blame that addiction on Meg. My fav is spice cake w/ cream cheese icing and dark choc.
|
I think I'll make some of these this weekend... they sound so good!!! :)

Oooh, that sounds yummy! Has anyone ever made Oreo balls? They're kind of similar, but made with crushed oreos and dipped in chocolate. Heaven!!!

What the heck is a cake ball anyway?
|
Oh man, i made these a few weeks ago and my kids went totally nuts over them. they love peppermint. all i did was add some peppermint extract to the frosting when i mixed it in.
|
Oooh, can we say weekend project so I have something to take pictures of for Daily December?!? *lol*
|
my DH's fave is Carrot cake, Cream Cheese, White Choc...
forgot to add that I use White Choc on the red velvet too! |
Thanks! Last year I added andes mints to brownies, mixed with frosting, and dunked in chocolate...I thought the mints made it a little greasy, so I'll try them with extract this year. Or add some crushed candy canes! :)
The spice cake balls sound YUMMY!!! |
Here are some variations of cake balls... http://bakerella.blogspot.com/2008/0...made-easy.html
LOVE HER STUFF!! |
Penny - I can't get me almost dead EHD to boot right now, but I know I've got a recipe card on there for the brownie balls (I made them last year too)...I'm thinking it was on Heather Ann Meltzer's blog maybe?
And yes, those spice cake balls do sound delish! |
Well, Leslie, get that EHD booted! :)
|

here's the recipe card I downloaded last year (again I'm not positive where I got this from), but I can attest to the deliciousness of them:) http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...ownieBalls.jpg |

Thanks, Leslie! :)

Mmmm . . . I love these things! I call them cake bon bons because "cake balls" reminds me of that sketch on SNL about Schwetty Balls - ROLMBO! I did the red velvet with cream cheese and white chocolate, but I don't think the white chocolate was very good quality, so they weren't my fave. However, I'm willing to try those again. I made chocolate-chocolate-chocolate and they were awesome!

I made these yesterday afternoon using a Devils Food Cake, Milk Chocolate Frosting and then dipped them in White Chocolate....They are delicious! I definitely will try making the brownie variation next....
|
oh my sounds heavenly :) hmm wonder if these would qualify for a cookie exchange I'm doing in a couple of weeks???
|
I just bought the stuff to make these...Im making 2 batches, I cant wait! Im gonna try the triple choc with candy cane sprinkles and spice cake-buttercream icing-white chocolate

Chloe's Christmas party for school is later this week. i was going to make the christmas tree pops (scroll down a bit) on Bakerella's site, but i wasn't sure how easy that would be to transport them to school, lol. plus, i'd probably mess them up. so i was thinking of still making them, but putting them in the little paper cupcake cups instead. do you think they'd be all right for kindergarteners? they were asking for cookies, but i wanna be different, lol. now, do i make them out of brownies, or cake......
