kim21673 01-05-2009 12:14 AM

Hmmmm, when our boys had their birthday parties, I saw that stuff everywhere. Do you have a Party City????

Sharon Kay 01-05-2009 12:22 AM

I am not familiar with them...course my "baby" is 13 now...can you buy some "characters" and put them on the cake? ...then make digital versions that would go with...if you want the real thing...buy stickers and put them on items?

lizzyfizzy 01-05-2009 12:30 AM

hmmm. that is a tad strange. aren't backyardigans like wicked cool in preschool world?

when that's happened to me, i just buy a cake to match and go buy my own little figurines at wal-mart.

Coila 01-05-2009 01:40 AM

Too bad you don't live closer I'd let you borrow my Pablo cake pan! I got it for $3 on sale at Michael's months ago.

I hope you find something!

meganmecrazy 01-05-2009 01:43 AM

bummer! I remember seeing all kinds of backyardigan stuff just a few months ago. I hope you come across something soon!

Okay, don't panic. Go to a toy store and buy some Backyardigans figures. Take them into your local bakery/grocery store, pick out a cake design that would work with them, and ask the bakers to make it for you without the cake kit (ie, the plastic toys). Show them what you plan to put on it, and they'll take it from there. We've had to do that the last 3 years for DS1's birthday. For his 3rd it was firefighters, for his 4th he wanted tools, and for his 5th he wanted Mickey Mouse. That's another that you'd think would be easy to find, but the only one we could find was too girly.

Do you have a store/bakery that will do a digital image on a cake? You can bring in a print out for them to use? I did that with a photo of DH's car (1968 camaro) for his 40th and it was a huge hit.
