OMG, look at this CAKE!

My cousin had Lasik surgery today and MADE this cake (I'm guessing before the surgery) for her eye doc & staff.

WOW! I can appreciate the technical merits of this cake, but it kind of creeps me out! It is so real looking! :p

MyEbella 01-22-2009 08:19 PM

how cool....
but I don't think I could eat it...it looks too cool!

cheltzey 01-22-2009 09:22 PM

So Laura, you should send this in to Cake Wrecks. Not that it's wrecky (it's totally amazing), but she really digs the things that are eerily realistic. Like massive eyeballs. Who wants to cut into that thing...vitreous fluid gushing everywhere...? I really hope it doesn't have any sort of filling!

On a similar note, when we dissected cow eyeballs in second grade, our teacher left the room for some reason. Not smart. We started hacking into those things with our blunt, elementary-school approved scissors...not a pretty site. That stuff gets EVERYWHERE! Needless to say, she was not amused when she got back.

Yes, she truly is talented. You should see some of the other beautiful cakes she has done. I don't know how you got this photo Laura, but I'm glad you posted it. I am going to link it to an email to her. Bet she doesn't know the compliments she's been getting.

Thank you! I'm so flattered! I love that people are finding it creepy and icky! That was kind of what I was hoping for!

Everyone said it tasted great! As for flavors, it was vanilla cake with passionfruit buttercream filling. (I tasted scraps, and I thought it was pretty good!)

I didn't pay for it, or get paid for it, so it's not technically a "wreck." But I am completely flattered that you think it's wreck-worthy!

However, my boss's cakes have been featured on Cake Wrecks 3 times! I'm the office manager at Mike's Amazing Cakes. (He made the James Bond wedding cake, the Winter Off-Kilter and the Red Dragon). I've learned a LOT since I started working for him, but I'm still the amateur around there! You should see some of the other cakes that get made there!

Thank you again for all the kind words!

danagirl82 01-23-2009 10:03 PM
