FYI - Shortening can go rancid....
..always be sure to check BEFORE you use it on your 6yo's birthday cake :(
That.is.all. |
OMGAH Yuck! The worst. :(
|
yuck :-( Sorry it had to happen with your child's b-day cake though. What a sucky way to find out its no good
|
Oh no!!! Yuck!
I do know this about shortening, and since I hardly EVER use it, when I do need it, I buy it in the smallest possible container. |
Oh no! :(
|
Does it smell? How can you tell? I almost never use it but I do keep it around for "special" projects and recipes.
|
Oh no! Is Aiden upset? And when did he turn 6? He can't be 6 already!
That is why I buy the Crisco sticks. But I bake a lot so we are always out of shortening. |
I keep my crisco in the fridge so it doesn't go bad.
|
ew. That really stinks! I hope you were able to get some fresh stuff and make another one :(
|
Thankfully I fixed it before it ruined the cake, but it stinks bad..and it's not coming off my hands :(
Yes, Amanda, my baby is 6 today :( I'm so sad. I rarely use shortening in my baking. Thankfully I had enough PAM left to do the job, and enough batter that it didn't make a huge difference. |
Yuck! I hate rancid oil. I had a recipe calling for crisco or canola oil and I used the canola oil for that very reason.
|
Oh, no! It's a good thing you discovered it when you did and were able to make another. I can only imagine how a 6 year old would react to not having a cake...
