My first fondant decorated cake
I have been wanting to try making a fondant cake for awhile now. Boy are they harder than I thought!!! Fondant was really hard to work with cause it dries out so fast, but for the most part I am happy with how it turned out. This is our dessert for our 4th get together tomorrow night.

So cute Mel!! Did you make your own marshmallow fondant or is it the other kind? I've been making a ton of fondant sweets lately. The marshmallow stuff is cheap to make and easy to handle too. :)

Wow! You did a GREAT job! I agree that fondant looks so great, but to do it yourself is really kind of hard. I guess with more practice I could get better, but you did AWESOME!!

Thanks everyone!! It really was quite the project. It took 2 days to do. I baked the cakes 1 day and then frosted them with buttercream frosting and let them chill. Then I did the fondant. I forgot to spray the cake with a little water before applying the fondant, so it was hard to get it to stick to the cake, but finally got it. My fondant was a little too dry so I was having quite a hard time working with it. I did make mine from scratch and I may try the marshmallow one next time. I just used water on the back of the stars and border to get them to stick to the cake. It was really hard with the borders (they look horrible) cause the fondant was too dry and they kept breaking when I was trying to put it on the cake. It was fun and I will be attempting it again, I just cannot believe how long it took. LOL!!
