Mozilla Thunderbird/ Gmail help needed :)

I need some help with Thunderbird.

I just added all my gmail accounts to Thunderbird and want to start using it. But it first wants to download all my emails that are in the account or the ones I haven't marked as read.

Is there a way I can only let Thunderbird download the new ones from now on? Because in one of my accounts I have over 4000 emails LOL

I hope someone can help me!

I import gmail into Thunderbird....but unfortunately I don't know the answer to this. Good luck though!!!
