S/O: Favorite New T.V. Shows

Nikki's thread got me wondering.... what are your favorite new shows this season?

I have two.

My first one is Glee. I mean, obviously its a great show. I love the drama and the comedy and, of course, all the amazing singing/dancing. Its just a fun show to watch!

My other favorite new show is Modern Family. OMGosh, that show cracks me up! The script is clever, the actors are hilarious, and its just a funny commentary on family life.

Those are really the only two "new" shows I like. I tried watching Community with Joel McHale and Chevy Chase, but I just didn't like it. I *wanted* to like it because I'm a big Joel McHale fan and Chevy Chase is usually hilarious, but I just didn't dig it.

Glee
In the Middle
The Good Wife

I, too, had high expectations for Community... they have the ingredients for a hit, great casting... but the writing is weak.

Leila 10-21-2009 12:10 PM

Glee
The Forgotten
Eastwick

We don't watch too many comedies, I'm not sure why.

Jennilyn 10-21-2009 12:11 PM

Glee
Eastwick
Vampire Diaries
Flash Forward
The Forgotten

We watch a LOT of TV...

nikkiARNGwife 10-21-2009 12:16 PM

Glee - love the music..they need much more music per episode lol
Eastwick - great ensemble of actors..they have a great chemistry so far
Flash Forward - from the makers of LOST - nuff said :)
In the Middle - love Patricia Heaton and this one has kept my attention
The Good Wife - I really like this one, I sure hope they don't cancel it
I'm trying really hard to like The Forgotton b/c I'm rooting for Christian Slater once again (his show last year was cancelled) but so far it's just kind of "meh" to me

It just seems like they don't give shows any chance to find an audience anymore..if it's not a hit right off then it's canceled before the season is even half-way over..and yes..we watch too much tv too lol

Flashfoward
Mercy

The Good Wife is my new fave show that's new this season!

Nettio 10-21-2009 12:52 PM

I'm really loving Glee and The Vampire Diaries. I like Modern Family too but I've only been watching it online.

I agree about Community. I'd heard a lot of hype about it and I don't think it lived up to any of it. I barely made it through the second episode. I think sometimes NBC is trying too hard to create another The Office or 30 Rock and I don't think it worked with Parks and Recreation or Community. It's a shame because I really like Joel McHale too.

iJenny 10-21-2009 12:52 PM

Ok, so someone tell me about The Good Wife. I don't think I've heard of it. Which network is it on? Who's in it? What is the premise of the show? Is it a drama or a comedy or what?

BrattyMeg 10-21-2009 12:57 PM

It's Julianna Margulies Jenny..it comes on CBS I have it on DVR b/c it conflicts with another show I watch but haven't had a chance to watch more than the first episode..here's the blurb from CBS

THE GOOD WIFE is a drama starring Emmy Award winner Julianna Margulies as a wife and mother who boldly assumes full responsibility for her family and re-enters the workforce after her husband's very public sex and political corruption scandal lands him in jail. Pushing aside the betrayal and public humiliation caused by her husband, Peter, Alicia Florrick starts over by pursuing her original career as a defense attorney. As a junior associate at a prestigious Chicago law firm, she joins her longtime friend, former law school classmate and firm partner Will Gardner, who is interested to see how Alicia will perform after 13 years out of the courtroom. Alicia is grateful the firm's top litigator, Diane Lockhart, offers to mentor her but discovers the offer has conditions and realizes she's going to need to succeed on her own merit. Alicia's main competition among the firm's 20-something new recruits is Cary, a recent Harvard grad who is affable on the surface, but is competitive to the core. Fortunately, Alicia finds an ally in Kalinda, the firm's tough in-house investigator. Gaining confidence every day, Alicia transforms herself from embarrassed politician's scorned wife to resilient career woman, especially for the sake of providing a stable home for her children, 14-year-old Zach and 13-year-old Grace. For the first time in years, Alicia trades in her identity as the "good wife" and takes charge of her own destiny.

Here's what I know about The Good Wife:
Drama
Julianna Marguiles
Chris Noth
CBS (you can watch full episodes there if you've missed any)

I've heard great things about it, but it conflicts with our other shows. :(

BrattyMeg 10-21-2009 12:57 PM

New shows for me..I really like Glee and The Forgotten...The Forgotten was sooo good last night and I just <3 Christian Slater

iJenny 10-21-2009 01:00 PM

Thanks Meg and Leila! I LOVE Chris Noth, so I might have to check this show out!

kristine 10-21-2009 01:30 PM

I am LOVING modern family - soo funny. And I like Vampire Diaries. I think those two are the only new shows I'm watching this year.

I've been meaning to check out Glee, but I haven't gotten round to it yet.

oohlala 10-21-2009 01:30 PM

My husband is the TV watcher.... I have seen In the Middle and I liked it. Other than that, I see Disney DVDs, Veggie Tale DVDs, and Phineas and Ferb. I am soooo outta the loop.

jessica31876 10-21-2009 01:33 PM

Love Vampire Diaries!!

emmasmommy 10-21-2009 01:39 PM

I always forget about CBS...

My new faves are Cougar Town, Modern Family, and of course, Glee.

ajf9597 10-21-2009 01:44 PM

I don't have any new favs, but really want to see Modern Family, but it interferes with our Fireproof bible study. I also would like to see In the Middle and The Good Wife, but for some reason haven't.

Chels85 10-21-2009 05:02 PM

Mercy and Trauma for me

pkstew2 10-21-2009 05:07 PM

Another huge fan of The Good Wife. I swear Julianna has matured into the most beautiful woman. I loved her on ER but gosh she's gorgeous now...but she still snagged George Clooney back then

I have the last few episodes of The Forgotten to watch. I'm hesitant b/c I was a huge fan of Christian Slater's last year drama that was cancelled so I hope this one works out better!

Misty Cato 10-21-2009 05:16 PM

Lie To Me - I hear it was around last season, but I just discovered it. Love it.

That's the only new addition to my TV watching this year. I tried Glee, but have since given up on it. I love NCIS and was excited about the new one, but I haven't been able to get into that one either.

nesser1981 10-21-2009 07:29 PM

Modern Family & Melrose Place (though I'm behind).

Its not new, but I got hooked on Castle, I'm really loving it.
