Canon XSi - Where to Buy?

We heading down to the US next week and with the dollar sitting the way it is, I think it's going to work out to be cheaper for me to buy my camera in the US.

Other than Amazon, where are some of the best (reasonable) places to buy a camera??

I got mine at Circuit City before it closed. You could try Best Buy or Walmart. I think I saw it at Walmart.

Wow! On Amazon, the total price after taxes comes to $654.??. At WalMart, the same camera sells for $699.98 and at Best Buy it $749.99 and those are both before tax.

This is for the Canon XSi body and the 18-55mm lense.

Are there any actual differences in the camera model depending on which store you buy it from??

I misread what you wrote...I dont have the XSi LOL (although it is the one I hope to buy someday soon!!)

I think that the camera is the same whereever you buy it. The only thing that makes me nervous about buying from Amazon is the inability to just take it back if it breaks/doesnt work right/dont like it. That is why when I bought my camera (I actually have the Canon S5IS) I got it from Circuit City. even though it was about 40 dollars cheaper online.

I think that unless you're going to buy the extended warranty, most stores want you to address issues with high-end electronics directly with the manufacturer...so maybe you could see what type of manufacturer warranty comes with it? As long as it's a year on common stuff, that shoudl be plenty of time to identify any manufacturing defects.

Also- we bought our flat panel TV online at Amazon about 4 years ago - and it was (at the time!) like a $3,000 purchase...and we buy just about everything that isn't perishable from there, too!

If I was in the market for a new camera right now, I'd DEFINTELY buy it from there. They always seem to have the very best prices!

have fun!

B&H Photo Video is a really reputable store too. I've bought from them a couple of times.

Try Costco if you have a membership. Their prices are usually very good and their return policy is the best around.
