Trick or Treaters, how many?

On Facebook, the general consensus is that everyone had a lot less of the trick or treaters than they usually have. I know here, the flu or some virus is rampant, 8-10 kids were missing per class (which is bad when there is only about 15 in each class LOL).

One commmunity in our province postponed Halloween because so many kids were sick and they wouldn't have been able to go out.

We had about 20-30. This is my first year here, and I was told to expect 60-70. I took the kids out around 5 ish, and by the time we were done, there were NO kids out around.

Did you have less or more than normal?

None, for the fifth year in a row. I suspect that it's because our neighborhood just isn't conducive to good trick or treating. It's mostly townhouses and apartment buildings with a few single family homes down at the far end of the road (which is about two miles long).

it was slower this year, but we expected that since it was only in the 40s. there's always fewer people out when it's colder like that.

i couldn't even guess at a number though. our cul-de-sac is pretty popular with the drop-offs, so it was steady... and they tend to show up in like groups of 10. lol

We live in a new subdivision...last year we had a whole ONE...this year...I bought 6 big bags of candy...the ones ya know that are like 8.50 at walmart..I'm glad to report it's ALLL gone but like the pixie sticks that were left busted at the bottom! :) :) we went out and there were SO many kids it was scary...lol :) I would say from 1 last year to we had at least 80-90+ kids and parents and more than enoguh teens to not be able to count :))

Jennilyn 10-31-2009 10:18 PM

It was actually pretty mild out here this year so you'd think there would be more kids. We got 28 at our house and at my mom's she got about the same, maybe less. She has SO much stuff left over! More for the grandkids I suppose. LOL

We were out trick or treating ourselves, but the weather was pretty nice here. Its normally horrid on Halloween for some reason and it had been raining all week, but its nice tonight. We got home at 9pm and I didn't buy any candy cause I knew we would be out late. I didn't turn on the porch light, but of course, 2 kids stopped by. I had to run and get N's bucket to give them some candy. lol

RealRach 10-31-2009 10:38 PM

We kept track and we had 230. Which is a little lower than our normal 250ish.

lovely1m 10-31-2009 10:42 PM

Jeez, its quarter to 10 here and we just had another one! The porch light is still not on and the front of our house is dark without it. The first 2 I figured it was cause they were about 10 and no parents, but this last one was like 5 and with his dad. lol All well, getting rid of the tootsie rolls N got like 50 of. lol

tettletop20 10-31-2009 10:43 PM

We usually get 150 and only had 125 this year.

Nettio 10-31-2009 11:05 PM

We had four (one group) last year and about 10-12 (5-6 groups) this year. I didn't expect we'd have too many since we live in a neighborhood of townhouses where there aren't too many kids. I think there were only maybe 4 houses in our area that even had their front porch light on.

ajf9597 10-31-2009 11:07 PM

We were out trick or treating so we didn't have any. And really in our neighborhood, it's more secluded, so I don't know if anyone trick or treats out here.

lauren grier 10-31-2009 11:07 PM

zero.. but I haven't had any since I moved here ^_^ so I wasnt really surprised. I live in a crappy neighborhood anyway. I don't want them out there.

neenee 11-01-2009 12:23 AM

We were a new neighborhood last year and only had about 10 total. This year our subdivision is almost built out and we had at least 75 to 100. Our candy is almost gone. I bought 10 bags of the snack size and fun size candy bars and they are all gone. Had our last TOT'ers at 11.

It was a great time! I loved it!

Misty Cato 11-01-2009 12:33 AM

We got more than usual for us - probably around 100 or so. We were out trick-or-treating during peak time, otherwise it would have been more. Everyone is so friendly in our neighborhood we had a wonderful time.

However at 9:00 we gave out the last of our candy, put the kids to bed and turned out our lights. Half an hour later someone rings the door bell. We ignore it, they ring again. Barron answers the door and it is 5 teenagers with no costumes. Barron asks them if they need anything and they say, "We were just wondering if you had any candy?" Ummm, no.

I really don't mind teens trick-or-treating, but could you at least make an attempt at a costume and say 'trick or treat'? You are old enough to know how the game is played.

jannylynn 11-01-2009 01:06 AM

It was cold here. I didn't count but I bought more candy this year because last year I ran out. This year, I have left-overs. MUST.stay.away.from.candy!

MissKim 11-01-2009 08:13 AM

We live in a mobile home park with lots of little kids around. Two years ago, we had to shut off the light because we were running out of candy. Last year, we had 2. This year, 4 groups. One of those groups was a student of mine, plus her brother. I had seen them at the store earlier and reminded them to come over.

I think that a lot of the kids in our neighborhood go to other neighborhoods to trick or treat. I just sent my youngest around this area because really, we don't need a lot of candy and it was more about her going out with her sister than anything else. This is probably the last year she'll go out, so I wanted her to have fun.

nikkiARNGwife 11-01-2009 08:37 AM

We had none lol..but that's usual for us..we live WAY out in the country and our house is WAY off the road..you can't even see it from the road...so none. When we lived in town it was usually 30-50 in our old neighborhood.

pewtertm 11-01-2009 09:11 AM

We generally have 10-15, but this year we only had 3. So needless to say we have a bunch of Twix and Lifesavers left. LOL

kim21673 11-01-2009 09:20 AM

I would say around 50-75. We never kept track b/c so many people were handing out the candy...it was whoever was closest to the door! LOL We normally have well over 100 kiddos. We have TONS of extra candy!!!

Stacey42 11-01-2009 09:41 AM

We had none but it's too rural to trick or treat around here. The school trunk or treat though had alomst a 1000 kids show up, plus parents. That was slightly higher than last year

rachaelsscraps 11-01-2009 10:41 AM

We didn't have any at all but we had our lights out. It was pouring rain and we saw only a few groups around our neighborhood so we didn't think it was worth doing anything. We took our kids out to about 5 houses before it started pouring rain and had to come home! It was a lousy Halloween this year! :(

jessica31876 11-01-2009 11:39 AM

we live in the country with properties being from an acre to more a piece and houses being way in the back of the yard so nobody trick-or-treats here. Everyone goes to a neighboring subdivision which is still kinda small but there at least the houses are closer together and you could get to more then five or six homes without tuckering out
