Seriously, anyone else have this issue??? The worst part is mostly I just use the boring old :) because... well i don't know why...

Almost every time I post though, i go back and edit and remove several smilies so as not to give you all the idea that I'm the annoying kind of perky...

I use them a lot too...

I use "lol" too much....like right then I almost typed it right after that sentence...and again right there... I usually have to go back and erase all my "lols" too LOL!

I use IM a lot at work - I happen to work with a lot of men. They don't feel the need to emote themselves with smilies, I've learned. Many also don't understand "LOL", either.

So I have to go back and type "Ha ha"...and usually remove a few exclamation points and undo a few all-caps words.

It's how I communicate in real life, for the record!! I use my hands a lot, talk very fast and you can read my emotions like a book ;)

i am THE MOST ANNOYING person ever when i type! no caps, lots and lots of smilies and LOLs and ..... and hahahas and !! and etc etc etc .... sorry everyone :) heehee!!

Oh yeah, I am a chronic overuser of smilies, haha. I know for me it's because you can't really get the tone of what people are saying over the internet so to me it's the easiest way to get across that what you're saying is meant to be light-hearted.

But yeah, sometimes I look back at my posts and feel really stupid because I ended every paragraph with a smiley. LOL!

ETA: And I realized I made it through that post with no smilies which is incredibly ironic given the nature of this thread. :D

i too use 'lol' and :D too much. i don't care, lol. <------see did it again. its like second nature. i can't help it.......lol.......:D

and this is sort of off topic but i have this girl on facebook (we used to go to elementary school together) and she always uses all caps on her facebook statuses. so everytime i see them i automatically sort of read them loudly in my head like she's always yelling :D bugs me though lol

Maybe you should EDUCATE your former classmate on the all caps rule! :confused: others may :thumbup: you for it! :huh: :p

yes. i have serious issues with it...and have a really hard time capitalizing when hand writing, and feeling like the person reading can 'read' my tone without the use of smilies.. :/
