Can we share plaid kits/layouts for the no.5 challenge?

The aqua kit thread really helped me a lot, did anyone start one for the plaid challenge?

Kim Mauch 04-11-2010 10:30 PM

Loved this challenge.

Here's one I did recently, although not for the challenge. I had never used a plaid background before, but I like how it turned out.

I used A Month at a Time - April by Traci Reed and Kristin Cronin-Barrow. I got it at the GGG sale.

I posted this question and then totally forgot about it, lol! Thanks for all the ideas :) I know what I'm going to scrap now!

Jengerbread88 04-15-2010 07:34 PM

I haven't seen the rules of the challenge, but you can make any striped paper into a plaid. Just duplicate the layer, rotate 90 degrees and change opacity to 50% then merge. :)

So apparently, I don't like plaid paper. I looked through my gallery and found no LOs with plaid paper backgrounds.

bellbird425 04-15-2010 08:58 PM

loving all the plaid examples!

Kim Mauch 04-15-2010 09:26 PM

Here's a plaid one I did in February:

Great tip, I cannot search through my stash to find plaid pp ('cause my ACDSee isn't working), but it'll be easier to find a striped paper! I'll try this!!

Cari 04-16-2010 02:15 AM

Here's mine. I'm not comfortable w/ the patterned papers yet, so I made mine really, REALLY simple. lol

Finally got around to scrapping mine!!!

I wasn't 100% sure what plaid was?! I guess we simply call it chequed or tartan in the UK. Glad you asked the question about choices - who'd have thought language would be a problem when it comes to simple patterns?

jaylensmom 04-16-2010 05:36 PM

love the layouts...i'm having a hard time finding plaid...everytime i think i have one it's a graph paper...i'm going to try again tonight...

ryliesmom 04-16-2010 07:47 PM

I used Melissa's Bunnylove.

OMGosh lena!!! Love love love that!

4noisyboys 04-16-2010 11:36 PM

Just thought I'd share a plaid layout of mine. I have some where they are mostly the backgrounds, but this one totally is!! This is also with La's At The Bus Stop.

Rachelle mine wasn't a plaid paper....I took the advice of someone earlier in the thread and just duplicated a striped paper....turned it 90 degrees and lowered the opacity to 50%....volia....instant plaid paper and stretched a kit to boot  :D :D

Julie Billingsley 04-17-2010 12:41 AM

I put 2 great plaids in my newest kit just because of this! I love plaid!!

jessica31876 04-17-2010 01:35 AM

OK this is possibly the coolest thing EVER!!! I love plaid papers...mostly for matting under a solid or paper piecing but now I can have a plaid to go with just about any kit I own and I figure I can make my own striped papers if the kit does not have one I really like with the solid papers and then create a plaid that way. That is just to cool! So thanks!!
