Saving as a TIFF?
After doing some pages with massive amounts of layers this weekend...I decided to try saving my layered files as TIFF images instead of PSD's. Holy cow, it makes a difference when you have a ton of layers. So uhm, what settings should I be using? I've just been using the standard PSE settings (LZW compression, ZIP layer compression) but I don't know if something should be different or what. And is there an easy way to change all my old PSD files(at least my 2010 ones) to TIFF?

LZW/ZIP is exactly what you should be using! I love TIFF files, even if my laptop is overrun by them, lol!
Does PSE have the image processor? It's under File in CS4. You can open a bunch at once and save them with TIFF settings in a snap. |
I have CS4 as well, I just don't use it for scrapping as often because it drives me batty, lol, so I will just have to batch process them in CS4 one day! Thanks Leila!

crazy question...can you still edit a TIFF file?
|
You sure can! It saves in layers like a PSD; the files are just smaller.
Oh--if you're using PSP, layered TIFFS won't open as layers unless they've added that capability in the latest version. |
Thats great! I will give that a try on my next LO!

Yeah, it's a major drawback to PaintShop, IMO. I don't know why they don't support layered TIFF, it'd be so helpful!!

Do not use PSE's process multiple files option to convert to .tiff. It flattens everything before saving, and I was unable to find any way to keep the layers using the automated process. I converted all of mine by hand. Took forever.
