Ugh! I hate when I do stupid things!

Do you ever just have really ditzy moments?? I certainly do. I try to minimize them by using a calendar and lists, but sometimes I just really flake.

My husband's birthday is Sunday. We're leading worship Sunday morning (we're one of three groups, and this happens to be our week in the rotation) which means we are there all morning long. So I decided we'd have a birthday celebration for my husband, at the lake, on Saturday instead. I sent out a few e-vites -- to family and about 4 friends.

One just replied that her family wasn't coming b/c that was the same time as their Back to School pool party......................

Uh oh -- I had already RSVP'd to that same party and I really want our family to go, 'cause we love these people. Ugh! I emailed her immediately and called her & left a voice-mail, but I still feel terrible.

So now I need to send out emails saying, "Oops, turns out I'm an idiot who didn't use her calendar like she absolutely needs to. Come Sunday afternoon instead of Saturday, k?" Ugh!

Please tell me I'm not the only one who has such terrible brain lapses!

You are not the only one to do something like this. My parents invited us to a fourth of july party and then I totally forgot and then emailed them saying "hey lets have a party".. Yeah my mom was like "umm we are here". lol. It happens to all of us.

You are definitely not alone Kresta! I KNOW I've done stuff like this before, but since my brain is such a mess, I can't remember a specific instance right now. LOL! See, the good thing about having a muddled brain is that you quickly forget all the stupid things you do! :)

Definitely not alone. My mistakes are usually professional, though, so that's even more embarrassing. Like yesterday, I prepared 450 invites for our "elderly day" (I work for my town and we throw a party every year for old people. It's a huge deal), a collegue folded all of them and put them in the envelopes, and she realized at the very last envelope that the RSVP paper was still showing last year's date. UGH!!!! I had to reprint all 225 sheets and she will take everything out, destroy the wrong ones, fold the good ones and put them in the envelopes. I could slap myself!

Been there done that! More times than I care to count. I think sometimes our brains just think there is more time in a day than there really is. At least you caught it before it got too late in the week. And friends will understand the need to change things around, especially on a Sunday. So yeah, I wouldn't feel bad, we have all been there.

I think it's perfectly normal. At least for me. Actually, I don't like people who don't make any blunders. To err is human, so those would be called robots in my book. :-)

The good news is that the more you do stuff like that, the less likely you are to offend....because your friend probably didn't get your email and think HMPF! Throw a party on the same day as us??? She probably got it and was like - umm yeah, she forgot LOL.

Don't beat yourself up - apologizing and changing your dh's bday party shows your sincerity and that it was just an oversight. :)

I've done things like that before. Happens to everyone at some point.

heathergw 08-04-2010 11:40 AM

totally not alone, I think it totally happens to everyone

lovely1m 08-04-2010 12:23 PM

Oh, I forget this kinda stuff all the time. lol

kresta 08-04-2010 02:51 PM

Okay, all fixed! I talked to her and she totally understood! And we moved the party to Sunday afternoon!

schock77 08-04-2010 03:16 PM

No... it's only you Kresta- I NEVER have stuff like that happen. ;) Ok... so it happens to me ALL the time but I blam it on not having a smartphone/calendar on hand at all times. Now when I get DH's iphone I won't have that excuse!

That's funny 'cause I really depend on my ipod touch calendar. I always have it with me and it seemed like a good solution since I don't have a smart phone either. But I just didn't happen to put this one on the calendar!!

Sasha 08-04-2010 06:48 PM

Its normal. Happens to the best of us. hehehe

Paula 08-04-2010 07:26 PM

LOL I've done that too! It is embarrassing isn't it?
