cs5 problems?

for those of you that have photoshop cs5, have you noticed that it crashes a lot?

i just bought it. i installed it yesterday, i started a page last night. i went to add text, it crashed. completely. today, it's crashed five times. i'm not doing anything i don't normally do, either. all i want to do is scrap. and i can't do that when it crashes and i can't add text.

anybody else having this problem? or is it just me?

If it's only doing it when you're adding text, you might have a corrupt font. That means uninstalling all of your added fonts. You can google your operating system to find out what is the basic font assortment that it uses, so that you aren't uninstalling needed fonts.

You can use a font manager to quickly uninstall those fonts, and then quickly install one by one as you need.

it does it when i click on the little "T" on the menu bar. that's the issue. i'm uninstalling and reinstalling to see what happens.

and if it doesn't fix it, adobe's getting an email.

thanks darcy, i'll keep the font thing in mind.

EDIT: uninstalled, and reinstalled. same problem. i don't get it.

Have you tried updating it. Adobe sends me frequent reminders to update. Mine use to be worse, has gotten better with updates. But doesn't have the exact same problem as yours. :/ Hope you get it sorted quickly!

If it only happens when you're using the text tool, it is most likely related to a font. Uninstalling and reinstalling won't fix it. Your best bet is to do what Darcy said about uninstalling your fonts. I'd start by uninstalling whatever font is currently selected with the text tool in Photoshop.

I went through this a few years ago with CS2. Turns out an open-type version of Arial had somehow gotten corrupted. I still have no idea how it happened but I can tell you that nothing fixed it until I uninstalled the font.

lynette- i did everything troubleshooting wise for fonts, and i had to remove a couple fonts, and then re-install them.
brittney- i checked, and it had an update!

all is fixed. all is well again. thanks ladies, i knew someone would have a solution. <3

Glad you got it fixed. I haven't had my PSCS5 crash yet so I would say the program (at least on Windows 7 64 bit) is very stable. LOVE IT! Have you tried out the Edit-Fill-Content Aware yet on any of your photos? I finally did right before Christmas and it is very very cool! Not quite as easy/peasy perfect as the demo but darn close!

It was my CS4 that used to crash! CS5 is a dream for me!!

i haven't really played around much. my photo class this semester is all done in ps cs5, so i'm pretty sure i'll learn how to edit and use all the photo editing tools. i'll be sure to try that one out!

Kjersti- i have cs4 on my laptop, and i never ever had a crashing problem. weird how some people have problems with different versions!
