Scuse me while I cry

My 3yo just hacked off her hair. Her incredibly long, gorgeous curly hair.

I know it's just hair, it will grow back etc etc. But I won't lie, I'm heartbroken :(

newfiemountiewife 03-24-2011 06:06 AM

I would be so sad! I'm so sorry. ((hugs))

hollyxann 03-24-2011 06:17 AM

A friend of mine has a 3 yr old that did the same thing. She had GORGEOUS blonde curly hair and cut it the one day. She was able to conceal it and it wasn't bad. Then about a week later she really hacked it off. So they had to give her a cute little bob. She's still adorable but I about cried when she told me her daugther cut it.

my2monkeys 03-24-2011 06:36 AM

oh no... I know how you feel. When my oldest was 4 she hacked off her long hair... like nearly to the scalp in some places. I did cry.

Lizzy257 03-24-2011 06:53 AM

Oh no! My 4 yr old has curly hair too, so I know I would be heartbroken too. (hugs)

mariewilcox 03-24-2011 07:06 AM

DD had hers hacked off at 5 for Locks of Love - not the same as doing it herself I know, but I have to say I was more traumatized than her about cutting it - it was down to her butt and so thick and blonde :crying:. I cried but she was excited - LOL. I'm surprised she never tried to do it herself - she was always hacking off her dolls/barbies hair!

emmasmommy 03-24-2011 07:12 AM

gaaaaaaaah! :(

LoriJ 03-24-2011 07:57 AM

When Lexi was about 2 I tried to cut her bangs and really did a mangled job and then I told everyone that she cut it herself! Is that the same thing? LOL!

Seriously though, Bella had beautiful curls and when her hair started growing the curls grew out and I was devestated too. I hope that her hair grows quickly and you feel better soon!

cbettua 03-24-2011 08:00 AM

Oh I am so sorry.

Paula 03-24-2011 08:12 AM

My youngest did that too. She had long, ringlet curls. I cried all the way to the beauty shop and all the way home. :(

heathergw 03-24-2011 08:23 AM

:(

(((hugs))) I think I would be pretty devastated too

Jazz2000 03-24-2011 08:45 AM

My dd did something like that - on picture day! Well, she didn't cut it, I put in big rollers in her hair - she had long, light blond hair & wanted to give it some bounce. I went to get the hair spray & when i came back, she RIPPED the rollers out w/her hair still attached to them! She had strands of hair only 1 inch in some places. It was all uneven. I did cry. And called my best friend on what to do.

My 5yo cut off his hair - just the top - looked like a reverse mohawk - the night before picture day at school.

*sigh* you're not the only one & it does hurt.

Sarah8914 03-24-2011 09:22 AM

awww, I'm so sorry!!! :( I cut my hair (and my brother's) at about that age and I remember my mom crying, a lot!

nikkiARNGwife 03-24-2011 09:24 AM

Aw I'd be sad too...but maybe you can get a cute pixie cut or something til it grows back?

When DS was 3 he gave himself a reverse mohawk lol..one bald strip right down the center of his head ...but we just shaved the rest...I don't think it's as traumatic when it's a boy though. Ella's hair is to her mid back already and probably should be trimmed but I can't do it lol

Penny Springmann 03-24-2011 09:26 AM

so sorry!!!

Keely~B 03-24-2011 09:27 AM

BTDT So Sorry. Sometimes these kids are just exasperating.

joelsgirl 03-24-2011 09:56 AM

I would cry too! So sorry!

HeatherKS 03-24-2011 10:01 AM

I'd cry too! :(

lovely1m 03-24-2011 10:37 AM

Oh, no! My kids terrified of haircuts, so i know he would never cut it himself. lol

JulieB146 03-24-2011 12:30 PM

My daughter didn't have a whole lot of hair until she was about 3. I think she did cut some of it off at one point, but while it was upsetting at the moment-OMG, what would the Mom's Club members think!-it not that big a deal. It wasn't the first time, and it wasn't the last! She still trims her own hair and leaves the trimmed hair in her dad's & my bathroom sink, clogging it up...I'm more upset about that!

scrappurple 03-24-2011 12:50 PM

Yep, been there done that. :( my now 16 year old did the same thing when she was 5. WAnted to kill her. I feel your pain. :hugs:

NatalieKW 03-24-2011 12:52 PM

I got gum in my hair at that age...so I cut it. I thought I was doing my mom a favor! :) Too bad just days earlier I'd gotten it cut and for the first time it was all one length. That didn't last long...

kscwgirl 03-24-2011 01:11 PM

oh yes.. been there. Abby cut a chunk out of her bangs right before I was taking them to get Easter pictures. I cried. I would cry. So sorry sweets :(

kendallt 03-24-2011 01:45 PM

Oh no! I think most of us feel your pain. Luckily when my DD did this, she didn't cut off too much (A stuffed lion and whale weren't so lucky, however :p). You have every right to be sad, but like you said, take heart in the fact that it *will* grow back. {{HUGS}}

pouledeluxe 03-24-2011 06:23 PM

oh my... I'm so sorry

my youngest started doing that on my b-day but I've caught her on time and it was just karma bitting back cause I've done it myself in first garde 2 days before the picture i've cut my bangs and I told my mom that the scissors had jumped on me :)

deepounds 03-24-2011 06:29 PM

You definitely have my sympathy . . . all of us who have been in your shoes can totally identify with the pain you're feeling right now. :hugs:

Joy2Scrapbook 03-24-2011 07:21 PM

So sorry! (hugs). Kids are so unpredictable, but they love you.

rach3975 03-24-2011 08:21 PM

Oh no! I think I'd cry. My middle DS has gorgeous curly hair, and a couple of weeks ago we took him for a haircut so he'd look nice for his 5th birthday and all the photos. She cut it WAY too short, so short that it can't curl at all. I almost cried. It'll grow back in a few months, I know, but that doesn't help when I look at all the super-short 5th birthday photos. I hope hers grows in quickly!

litabells 03-24-2011 09:01 PM

Thanks ladies :)

I'm still shattered this morning, but not crying anymore lol I just couldn't believe it - she has the longest hair, down to her backside, and beautiful ringlets. And now she has bangs and very short hair on the sides. Not exactly a good look lol Luckily she's not fazed by it at all!

tsbegley 03-24-2011 11:55 PM

Oh no!! My girls were bald for a long time so I know how precious hair can be! I would be heartbroken if either of them cut theirs!
