Book suggestions
I have not read a book since before my first was born almost 6 years ago, but I got an ereader for my bday and am looking to get back into it and read while I'm working out. I'm not into sci-fi stuff, more like happy, romance, or fiction type stuff. Can anyone give me some suggestions? It would be much apreciated!!

well obviously the Twilight series!!
Anything by Jodi Picoult & Nicholas Sparks. OMGOshhh The Notebook is the best book!! If you get anything by Nicholas Sparks you should get it. I am reading The Help right now which is this months book here at SSD. It is pretty good. |

I love anything by Sophie Kinsella. She did the Shoppaholic series (maybe you already knew that). Her books are light easy reads that are very funny.
|
Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich - I know there are a lot of fans of this series at SSD! They are laugh-out-loud funny, esp. once you really get to know the characters!

I'm into Kristin Hannah and Emily Giffin right now myself... I've loved all I've read so far
Def come check out SSD's bookclub!! https://www.sweetshoppecommunity.com...play.php?f=156 |
Get you some Kristin Hannah books. On Mystic Lake is a wonderful one as is Magic Hour.
I also love Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series. They are hilarious. The Weird Sisters by Eleanor Brown was a good one. And I love Jodi Picoult too. Come join the book club here at SSD. I'm reading The Help and it is wonderful. |

Yes Sophie or Madeleine Wickham (Sophie's real name and authors books under this name too)... and Jane Green, Emily Griffin, Jennifer Weiner... any of these authors are good reads. Like my movies, my books need to be happy and funny. ;) |
Try Lisa Kleypas's The Wallflowers series or The Hathaways series. The Hathaways are a spin off from The Wallflowers, but you don't need to have read the first set first.
I also like Lauren Willig's Pink Carnation series a lot. Anything by Susan Elizabeth Phillips is great, too. |
I am a HUGE fan of Kristin Hannah and Nicholas Sparks books. ALL OF THEM. :) MUST READS by Kristin are Winter Garden, True Colors, Firefly Lane and her new one....Night Road. Sparks must reads.....Last Song, A Walk to Remember and Safe Haven. But seriously....any book by them would be worth reading.
If you are looking for a good series..... Cedar Cove series by Debbie Macomber is really good. It is a romance, comedy all rolled into one. I thought it was a really sweet story and enjoyed all the characters. |
Thanks ladies! I am bookmarking this post so I can come back and mark things off as I go.
Since there is a book club here now (where have I been), I bought The Help and am going to read that. |
I just finished the Hunger Games trilogy on my Kindle and I looooooooved it! Seriously, it's a little science fiction (it's set in the future), but such a good reflexion on war and society.

I pretty much only read paranormal fiction these days so you probably wouldn't be too interested in most of my fave authors but occasionally I venture into other genres, one of my recent books that I would totally recommend is Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen! The movie with Rob Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon is coming out soon and I really loved the book and can't wait to see the movie :)

I agree with The Hunger Games trilogy and Water for Elephants. Give Water for Elephants a little time before you make up your mind though, I thought it was a little hard to get into but once I did, I couldn't put it down!
Another series that was recommended on here earlier was the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. It's a big commitment - I think the first book has over 800 pages - but it is well worth it. I'm on the 4th book now and am still loving it. It might be a series to tackle once you're back in the habit of reading. :) |
I think all Moms can probably relate to this hysterically funny, sweet book:
I Don't Know How She Does It |
