PSA: when storing your scrapbooks in the oven...

for the natural disaster looming at your house - i.e. Tornados...

Please, for the love of God, remember to take them out before you make supper.

That. is. all.

heathergw 04-27-2011 06:58 PM

oh no... oops

Leila 04-27-2011 06:58 PM

:blink::blink:

SmallMoments 04-27-2011 06:59 PM

Oh no! Darcy!

misfitinmn 04-27-2011 07:08 PM

Oh NO! That is a real bummer!

Darcy Baldwin 04-27-2011 07:12 PM

Thankfully, I had placed newspaper on the rack...and the only thing damaged was the plastic cover on our cheap wedding album..it melted onto the album, but no photos were damaged, and the heritage album that was under it was undamaged (but smells strangely like homemade chicken nuggets I made before the storms the other night :p)

When we have short notice, like we did, a few special albums get thrown in there and then a chunk in the dishwasher to help protect them. I did a stovetop meal last night and at lunch today, so I hadn't thought about them til I started preheating for dinner tonight.

Big oops. Thankfully they're all okay.

SweetMelissa 04-27-2011 07:20 PM

Oh man! I'm glad they are okay.

Ginger_79 04-27-2011 07:26 PM

LOL Oh my God, Darcy. I know it's not funny, but well...it is funny. Glad they are ok.

meganmecrazy 04-27-2011 07:33 PM

OMG!! That would be something I would do!!

Tracie Stroud 04-27-2011 07:51 PM

omg Darcy. So glad they're ok!

mrs_jb 04-27-2011 07:53 PM

Definitely sounds like a mistake that I would make... LOL! I'm so glad that they weren't damaged Darcy!

taracotta7 04-27-2011 07:54 PM

Oh no Darcy!!!!! I am so glad that no pictures were damaged. Is it bad that I laughed a little once I knew everything was okay? :p

And it is weird that after reading this, I am wondering what you are having for dinner that you needed the oven for? I am always in the market for a good recipe! :)

Darcy Baldwin 04-27-2011 07:59 PM

Nothing grand, Tara - homemade chicken nuggest and sweet potato fries and applesauce. They're gorging on .31 ice cream, so I didn't try too hard with dinner LOL

Oh that is good. Glad I wasn't missing out on a gourmet meal! LOL Of course, we love homemade chicken nuggets and sweet potato fries too. Lucky for you....I already got those recipes! LOL

nietis 04-27-2011 08:04 PM

Phew... good thing no photos are damaged!!!

ColleenSwerb 04-27-2011 08:43 PM

Oh man Darcy, lol. Thank goodness nothing was seriously damaged!

My mom keeps all kinds of pots and pans in the oven, and growing up I ALWAYS forgot to clear them out before I turned it on, lol. I'm glad you caught it quicker than I would have!

Kara 04-27-2011 08:46 PM

Yikes!

Me, too! Everytime I make something at my mom's, I always forget that she keeps stuff in there. lol

Megan Turnidge 04-27-2011 09:01 PM

 Oh man, I am so glad your photos are okay!!!

MissKim 04-27-2011 09:05 PM

I would never have thought of the oven and dishwasher, and I live in a mobile home. When severe weather is threatening, I take my biggest EHD and put it in my bag. That EHD has all my photos on it, plus all my layouts, but only in web size. I figure if there's a disaster and my house is gone, I'll still have my photos and memories with me. Never even considered trying to save the actual albums.

But I do put the dog in the closet before we head for shelter. :)

LibbysMommy 04-27-2011 09:15 PM

Oh my gosh Darcy!! You know I thought about that when you mentioned that you were putting them in the oven....I'm glad no photos were damaged!!

my2monkeys 04-27-2011 09:17 PM

oh no... lol... I had never heard of doing this... I'll keep it in mind for our bout bad weather... but I'm sure I'll be toasting them since I can't even remember to remove the cast iron skillets I keep in there out before preheating the oven.

4noisyboys 04-27-2011 09:31 PM

I'm just more freaked out about the possibility of tornadoes. I just can't imagine living somewhere that I'd have to even worry about that. SCARY!

Paula 04-27-2011 10:41 PM

Thanks for that very important tip!! I am sorry though, but I have to LOL because the mental picture is just too funny.

HeatherKS 04-27-2011 10:57 PM

Oops! Glad nothing was completely ruined!

On another note, I never would have thought about sticking stuff in my appliances to keep it safe. That's a great idea!

sprauncey1 04-27-2011 10:59 PM

I guess at least you didn't run the dishwasher right? Glad it was only minimal damage!!

kristijoy 04-27-2011 11:30 PM

Oh no!!!! But glad there wasn't a tornado that flattened your house.

eranslow 04-27-2011 11:35 PM

Oh no! Glad there was only a little damage!

This makes me totally think of my Grandma - she would store cookies in the oven - store bought cookies that would still be in the plastic container. I don't know how she didn't melt that plastic!

julia 04-28-2011 02:04 AM

So glad to hear the photos weren't damaged! Sounds just like me to forget about something like that :p

DawnMarch 04-28-2011 11:41 AM

I have to admit that this made me giggle a little bit -- but only AFTER I heard everything turned out okay! :D

suze 04-28-2011 11:53 AM

 omgosh thats crazy....

tho sorry you made me chuckle by the way you said it!! I was happy to read further and see they made it through it!!!

sari55 04-28-2011 08:29 PM

LMBO!!! Okay that is kind of funny!!!! Glad nothing was ruined beyond repair!!!:thumbup:

hollyxann 04-28-2011 08:33 PM

OMG! Thank goodness your pictures were ok!

I thought the title was a joke or something at first.

sevenupps 04-29-2011 03:31 PM

I'm glad your photos and you are ok Darcy!
I had a friend hurry and shove dirty dishes in her oven when her MIL showed up unexpectedly. She forgot about it until she preheated her oven to bake stuff. She melted tupperware all over it and had to get a new stove!
