ACK! Computer help please!!

I'm on dh's laptop right now posthing this because my computer is dead dead dead this morning. When I turn it on, it goes straight to a black screen with a cursor blinking in the corner. I can't do anything at all. No Windows, no anything...

So, I have to ask... is this what happens when a hard drive crashes? Can you think of anything else it could be?

If it IS my hard drive, what do I do? I've got all my personal files backed up on Mozy, so that parts easy enough. It's going to be a real pain in the butt to fix everything else though, isn't it???

Please, someone give me some good news...

OK, it's up now. I just turned it on and went away... after literally like 20-30 minutes, it came on. But it's running pretty slowly. That can't be good.

Crap. Why does stuff like this happen at the holidays?

Hi Libby, it sounds somewhat similar to when my HD failed...but I got a 'boot error' message...it was a black screen too...you might want to do a scan at pcpitstop and you can run a diagnostic test and it will give you useful info about your HD. Hope that helps. If you need any more help, just holla.

Sorry, but that's exactly what mine did when my HD crashed. Since it's on now, I'd backup anything on there you don't want to lose.

Thanks guys!

I'm running another back up right now as we speak. I've been hinting to dh for the past couple of months that I'm going to need a laptop for my 30th birthday in February. LOL! Maybe I need to just go ahead and do that. *sigh*

Computers are such a pain, aren't they???

They sure can be at times. LOL
