All my young life, I'd planned to be a nurse. In high school I joined school cadets (army) and found I really liked it. Near the end of my high school years, I applied to both nursing and to the army to become a medic. I got accepted to both in the same week! After so many years of wanting to be a nurse, I ended up choosing the army option instead (this way, the army would pay for me to learn medical stuff. I could earn enough money to put myself through nursing a few years later). Well, I discovered that I LOVED being a medic. I travelled the world, became confident and independant, found and married the man of my dreams (also a soldier), and together we have the most amazing family. I don't know what my life would have been like had I gone nursing instead, but I do know I am completely happy with where I ended up.
