Amazing Digi Scrapping Race (ADSR) 2008?

Anyone participate in this last year? I didn't and I'm curious to know what it entails. Maybe I'll participate this year!

Priscilla 01-06-2008 10:06 PM

I'm not familar with it but it sounds fun :D

MikkelPaige 01-06-2008 10:09 PM

Here's the blog: http://www.ndisb-adsr.blogspot.com/

But I still don't really know what the rules are, what kind of committment I'd need, etc. :-)

mormishmom 01-06-2008 10:17 PM

Here's an old post from last year's race with some more info:

I played last year..it was pretty fun :) A bit out of the box and some fun goodies along the way. The winner is random not based on points or anything so that's fun too

You have to find a scrapper to team up w/you as a buddy

kscwgirl 01-06-2008 11:14 PM

Meg and I did it last year and it was a blast. You really think outside of your scrapping box... it was so much fun.

ZaCola3 01-06-2008 11:23 PM

I also did it last year, with a staff member at NDIS so I wasn't able to win the prize, but it was SOOOOOO FUN!
We had a blast and I met a new friend.

nun69 01-07-2008 12:51 AM

I did this last year and it was alot of fun...kinda like the stand up and scrap contest....but there is no right or wrong and there are no judges...you have a partner and you both have to complete your LO's and upload to your main gallery and the host goes and checks everyone's LO's each week and that's it....everybody that makes it to the end, gets their name put in a hat and she usually has one of her kids draw the name of the team {completely random}....that's the basis of it...it was alot of fun...one of the challenges last time was to scrap your most embarrassing moment...

Brandy 01-07-2008 01:25 AM

i did it my first year last year and it was a blast I can't wait til they do this years.

tuneskids 01-07-2008 01:59 AM

I heard about it, but with having no digi-budget, was wondering if you had to purchase kits to use, or if you could use your own stash. Would be fun to expand my abilities, that's for sure!

ditzyscrap 01-07-2008 02:14 AM

I have never played - I've wanted to but have never been able to say "yeah, I can do that every week", lol. Maybe I'll give it a shot this year...we'll see! :)

jaylensmom 01-07-2008 02:53 AM

I did it for the first time last year and it was fun.....

Paula 01-07-2008 04:41 AM

I did this the first round and then my partner went awol for round two. I want to do it again.

SaraAmarie 01-07-2008 11:25 AM

I haven't paid alot of attention to this in the past since I wasn't scrapping much at all, BUT now that I have been scrapping more, this does sound interesting!

I looked at the links posted above and have a question... it says the challenges are posted on Mondays and Thursday and are due the subsequent Sunday. Does that mean that you have 6 days to do Monday's challenge and 3 days to do Thursday's challenge? Would be fun to play but I don't know if I can do that many challenges in that amount of time! LOL!!

sczos911 01-07-2008 11:57 AM

I'm interested, too, about the time frame and what kits/products you can use

I have not done this is the past, but would be REALLY interested. :)

nun69 01-07-2008 12:05 PM

I don't recall having to purchase anything...usually there was a freebie or a GC at the end of each challenge if you completed them...and yes you only get 3 days to complete the 2nd challenge of the week....there are 2 challenges each week and they are both due by midnight on Sunday of the same week...that's about all I can remember....it is alot of fun!!! and all you have to do is complete the challenges to move to the next round....no competition involved...

iJenny 01-07-2008 12:13 PM

I think I might participate this year (for the first time). I looks fun.

I was thinking the same thing Jenny. I'm just wondering when the competition will actually be. We're super busy during the summer, lol.

SaraAmarie 01-07-2008 01:12 PM

The next one is Feb/March. :)

Hey there! I'm organizing the ADSR and I want to thank Mikkel for letting me know you all had some questions over here.

First, no, you do not have to purchase anything in order to participate. You may use whatever products you wish.

The whole concept of the race is the brain child of Cindy Simon. Teams of two "race" around the internet stopping at various digital scrapbooking sites and completing challenges and collecting prizes.

There are two stops and two challenges per week and BOTH challenges need to be posted by midnight Sunday in order to continue. The only way to be eliminated is to not complete the challenges. I'm thinking of changing it so that everyone has more time, so that challenges will be posted on Sundays and Tuesdays, but I'm still working out details and finalizing the host stops.

All eligible teams will then be entered into a grand prize drawing. There will be one grand prize winner (one team - two members) and two runners up (two teams - four members) this year. We decided to add the additional winners by popular demand.

As far as kick-off goes, we're looking at kicking off on February 22.

If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask. It really is a lot of fun!

ColleenSwerb 01-07-2008 01:21 PM

Thanks so much Theresa! I can't wait to play!

newfiemountiewife 01-07-2008 01:30 PM

melrio 01-07-2008 01:58 PM

I'd like to participate but don't know anyone well enough to go with a partner. Kinda scares me that I might not be 'good' enough to partner with.

sczos911 01-07-2008 02:42 PM

Thanks for stopping by to fill us in, Theresa! :)

MikkelPaige 01-07-2008 03:15 PM

Thanks, Teresa! Great info, especially the start date!!

Brandy 01-07-2008 03:19 PM

Lol cant wait. I agree though finding a partner is the hardest lol.

Skills and experience are not required. You are not competing for the best layout or the most original. It's about having fun. No pressure!

sczos911 01-07-2008 05:03 PM

What were some of the challenges in the past?

In Season 2, some of the challenges were:

* Scrap your most embarrassing moment
* Scrap a page that depicts "girl talk"
* Create a fairytale or storybook layout

Some were individual layouts and some you coordinated with your race partner. And these are just the basic descriptions of these challenges. There are often other restrictions or requirements that go along with them to make them both more challenging and fun.

digi-gee 01-07-2008 07:41 PM

Sounds like a lot of fun.

tuneskids 01-07-2008 08:37 PM

thanks so much for answering these questions Theresa!! Now to figure out how to go about getting a partner. lmao

ColleenSwerb 01-07-2008 09:28 PM

I know that in the past there has been a thread over at the NDISB forums for people looking to partner up. I'm sure something similar will happen soon.

Lol lucky you jenny. to me that is the worst part lol. i never can find anyone and am always scared to ask people

ColleenSwerb 01-07-2008 11:41 PM

Brandy what have you got to lose? Anyone for that matter! Just ask, the worst that happens is they say no and you get an even better partner!

Of course I say this and I already have a partner, lol. :o

Brandy 01-08-2008 02:33 AM

lmao Col. i know but i hate the "no" lmao..........yea i'm a loser lol :D

Paula 01-08-2008 03:37 AM

Brandy, I'll partner up with you!

DianaDK 01-08-2008 03:53 AM

This sounds so much fun, and IŽll be participating for sure

Brandy 01-08-2008 04:11 AM

Yay paula that works for me :D

melrio 01-08-2008 09:18 AM

I feel the same....its hard to ask someone and then hear 'no'. Its rough! LOL May have to check out the thread when it starts.

MikkelPaige 01-08-2008 11:05 AM

Feel the love :-)

I say ask...worst someone can say is "no" and that's no big deal...just ask someone else!

MamaK 01-08-2008 05:43 PM

Theresa rawks!

I played season 2 and LOVED it!! I will definitely be playing again. It was lots of fun and I think mostly in part because there was no race to be the first poster or have the most points. If you completed the week you got a prize. simple as that! The prizes were awesome. The challenge themes were so cool, some really got me working outside my box and I have to say some of the layouts I created during the race are now some of my favorites!! The time frame worked well, you had 3 days to work on each of the two layouts for the week, unless you're like me and put off doing both layouts till the last day, lmao! Just be sure you and your partner post on time and triple check each challenges requirements before you're finished and you'll do great!

nun69 01-08-2008 05:45 PM

Hi Krisit ;)

MamaK 01-08-2008 05:53 PM

hey Angie!

Priscilla 01-08-2008 10:11 PM

This year's is in February/March so you won't be out yet :)
I believe it lasts for 6 weeks.

Tracyfish 01-08-2008 10:36 PM

I think it was 6 weeks last time. It was so much fun and I really got to make a new friend out of it too! Laura (lmccandless) and I are already gearing up for the next one...watch out the Atomic Blondes are ready to race!

~Julie~ 01-09-2008 12:27 AM

I participated both times and had a blast and got some awesome prizes!! Can't wait to do the next round!!
