HELP with Blogger~

It's been a couple years since I fiddled with the html in Blogger... I'm so used to WordPress! I'm helping a friend with her blog design and she wants her body of her blog 1180 px wide. Every time I adjust her code to this, it ends up taking the whole blog off center. The only part I added/changed is in bold:

#outer-wrapper {
width: 1180px;
margin:0;
padding:5px;
text-align:$startSide;
font: $bodyfont;
}

Help?

Megan - in the newer templates there is actually a slider to adjust the blog width in the "Template Designer" section. I have a lesson I teach about customizing blogger so if you can't find it right away I will try and pull up the lessons with screen shots for you.

If she has an older template I think I might still have my old lesson too. Give me a few minutes and I'll see if I can find the lessons. (I'm making dinner now too so I'm a bit interrupted....)

It is an old template. I went nad played with the new template designer and it wouldn't let me take out the sidebar... the minimum width I could set the sidebar to was 100px (it's her photography blog and she doesn't want a sidebar).

I figured it out in the new template designer. There was a separate area where I could select a design with no sidebar. :)

Glad you figured it out - I was just going to say that I was sure you could take out the side bar in the new template designer. I know they try to make it easier to customize but for those of us use to doing it the html way it is hard to find all the places to change things the "new" way. lol

Okay, one more thing! I have created a fake menu bar but I can't get it to all appear on the same line even though the bar is as wide as the outer wrapper (1220px). I think the widget has a different width set for it. Anyone know where I can fix this? Here's the link (take out the space before blogspot):

I'm trying to fix the gray bar that says HOME, WEBSITE, etc.

Gosh, this kind of stuff is so much better on WP. lol
