So... the 30 Day Shred is amazingly effective... but...

I started working out about 2 months ago to slim down after I had my baby (he's 4 months old now). Most days, I stick to about 1500 cals/day and did the 30 Day shred work out (I had a major interruption though with my grandmother dying, flying out for her funeral, getting sick, baby getting sick....). I'm on Day 25 now and I weighed myself for the first time in 3 months... and I couldn't believe to see the number staring back at me! I weigh what I weighed in high school and what I weighed when I got married. I'm more physically fit than I was, my abs are more toned than they've ever been... yet I still don't fit in the jeans I was wearing before I got pregnant with Sheldon. :glare: Bah! I am so sick of maternity pants!

I guess I just wanted to whine. lol

OMG you're my hero. My baby is approaching 6 months and I am not yet working out. I've been struggling with my milk supply so I've been told not to work out or limit my calories.

I'm also sick of matenrity jeans.

I did the shred last year right before I got pregnant(SURPRISE!) and it was very effective for me too. Although I gained weight, it was all muscle mass and I was so much more toned than I had ever been before. once I do start working out now I'll be doing the shred again.

I'd take muscles over going up a jean size any day! lol if you're in better shape it shouldn't matter!

Totally this! Just go buy yourself a new pair of jeans that will quickly become your favorite. It is all about fit......not the number on the tag. Sounds like you are kicking some major booty getting back in shape! WAY TO GO, GIRL!!!!!

I would be perfectly content to just go up a size, BUT I seem to be storing all my excess fat right in my love handles. I know I have some squish to lose there... just not sure if it's going to budge. lol

Good luck when you start it up again! I totally love it! Sorry you're struggling with your supply. It's awesome you're still sticking with it though! I was relieved when I decided I needed to quit due to WEEKLY breast infections that kept making me sick and wouldn't go away. I wanted to breastfeed, but I am so much healthier and happier now. And relieved to have normal sized boobs again. :D

WOW! You go, girl!! I still haven't found the motivation to lose the baby weight yet, 4 months later, AND I have this awful c-section pooch of skin that makes everything fit horribly on me. I am so impressed with your dedication!!

jaylensmom 10-03-2011 12:08 PM

i'm still trying to lose the baby weight and my little guy is almost 7 (years not months) :) i think i'm going to start the 30DS dvd after reading your post

Angie4b1g 10-03-2011 12:54 PM

I wear the same size I wore 13 years ago - but I'm currently 25lbs heavier than I was then. As we age/give birth/workout, things just shift around. lol

ayaandjudah 10-03-2011 12:54 PM

I had Mastitis once and holy cow did that hurt. I couldn't imagine having it every week. OUCH.

Nursing is insanely important to me for the bond it provides me with. I struggle to bond with my babies right away and nursing seems to help. I wish I could let it go like you did, I think ultimately I'd be happier but I can't seem to let it go. instead I keep struggling and worrying and hoping I do the right thing.

It's never easy, is it?

You should be very proud of yourself...what a huge accomplishment!! I tried the Shred once and got through the first 5 minutes, LOL (I'll stick with walking). ;)

oye, love handles...and saddlebags. the bane of my exsistence.

Congrats! I'd definitely go buy the new jeans. Sounds like you're in great shape now, but it's hard to say if time will give you your pre-baby body back or if pregnancy and age have changed your body shape permanently. Either way, you'll mind less if you're wearing jeans you like!

Sarah8914 10-03-2011 01:45 PM

that's awesome!

I haven't tried my jeans yet (too hot), but everything else so far fits me... but I still have like 10lbs to lose and a little pooch... I'd rather lose the pooch and have some tone and need new jeans! So I'm jealous! but... unmotivated....

Haven't weighed myself lately, but I'm back to my pre-Oliver weight, but not very fit since my joints have been going crazy on me. In your pictures you look amazing! I wonder if maybe your hips have just changed or something. With how fabulous you look it's so hard to believe that you can't wear your old jeans!

NatalieKW 10-03-2011 02:35 PM

For me, I've found that even though I'm the same weight as I was when I got married, my body carries it differently since having babies. It is so frustrating to look in the mirror and see all the hanging belly skin but stand on the scale and see the number I saw as a freshman in college (nine years ago). While the number feels good, I just hate the way my shirts and pants look on my "muffin top." So frustrating!

Ah thanks, Megan. My hips fit fine in my jeans, actually. They are mid rise jeans... and the hips and butt area fit great, it's right where I button them closed that I'm a little too thick (about an inch below my belly button). If I lost the love handles, I know they'd fit!

Yes, the muffin top. That's why I'm not wearing my old jeans yet. I refuse to sport a big muffin top. lol

There's a proverb in Slovak that says: A woman without a belly is like a pot without a handle. It actually rhymes in the original. Take the wisdom of our forefathers. Women are SUPPOSED to have muffin tops. Period.

I didn't read every comment, but I bet you can't fit in your old jeans because your hips are still widened from your pregnancy/delivery. It can take quite a while for them to get back to where they should be. I'm built relatively small, and I remember looking in the mirror one day a month or two after having my baby and thinking "oh my goodness, I am so WIDE!" I wasn't chubby, just wide since my hips were still out and in baby mode. They'll go back in, and you'll be back in your old jeans! Great job with getting so healthy and so quickly after having your baby! Congrats!
