ISO: Pie Recipes ??
I need a tried and true pecan pie recipe ... using pecan halves ... and that gooey base ... I tried Aunt Landers' recipe and can't remember why ... but didn't care for it. Anyone have a basic pecan recipe they love?
Anyone looking for a recipe for a "bet you can't guess what's in it" pie? If so, once I get breakfast in the oven and bread in the breadmaker ... I'll post it (it's super super easy ... and good!) |
My Mamaw makes the most delicious pecan pie ever. A few years ago I asked her for the recipe figuring she'd pull out an ancient recipe card handed down from her mother and grandmother. She went into the kitchen and peeled the label from the jar of dark Karo syrup and handed it to me lol. Turns out that's the recipe she'd used and her mother before that used. So if you have some dark Karo..try the recipe for Pecan pie on the back :) It's delicious :)

I only have light syrup ... guess I can send a guy to the store for the dark today ... maybe just maybe that was the difference....

I only make this one.

Ok I have **BOTH** pecan pies in the oven right now ... we're going to do a side by side taste comparison tomorrow. LOL
....pioneer woman called for light karo so I used that ... and bought the dark karo and used that recipe ... Our local hackerspace, that I am a member of, is going to have a get together on Saturday ... so if I have leftovers ... they will be consumed ... so I won't have to eat it all by myself. ;) ...for 7 people I have baked/or are baking: 1 surprise pie; 1 pumpkin pie, 2 pecan pies, 1 chocolate sour cream bundt cake (with cupcakes), and brownies ... and we bought a LARGE caramel apple streusel crunch pie from Sam's ... I think that is all ... but jeesh this has taken me ALL DAY LONG with help from 2 of the guys.... |
Ritz Cracker Pie
This recipe was given to me by my Aunt Shari Clay when I was young ... give this pie a try and you may be surprised at how easy it is to make and how delicious it really is! It tastes NOTHING like Ritz crackers when prepared this way. It is fun to give someone a piece and have them guess what the main ingredient is!
Ritz Cracker Pie by Shari Ann Clay; Tulsa, OK 3 large egg whites 1 cup sugar 1 cup pecans; chopped 22 Ritz crackers; crumbled small 1 teaspoon vanilla Beat egg whites and sugar together. Mix in remaining ingredients. Pour into a buttered pie pan. Bake at 300F for 30 minutes. Cool. Top with whipping cream .... yum! |
