You credit people

You know if you use the method Krystal mentioned on her blog a while ago (like um... over a year ago at least) for loading your supplies/elements on your page then all your elements keep their file names so keeping up with what you use is really easy.
:)

I'll see if I can hunt up how it was done, but just figured I'd mention that.

In PSE, if you drag things from the photo bin (NOT from the actual element window) it keeps the filename!

NeverendingJen 12-16-2011 10:40 AM

I tried that method, but it really only works if you know what you are using in advance, lol.

What do ou mean? I almost never know all of what I'm going to use when I start and I have no problem with it.

I just drag into ps and it keeps the file name. It only doesn't work for sheet alphas.

I think if you drag the whole sheet onto your layout and then use CTRL + J to clip out each letter you want, then it will save the file names... I think... I haven't tried it yet...

Nope, it just names them layer1, etc. It wouldn't be difficult to copy and paste the layer name, though. I don't usually bother, I just keep the full sheet alpha in my layered file.

I have pse 8, and this doesn't happen for me at all. It just names it layer 1, etc. Do you know if you have a setting on your PSE that makes it do that?

Sarah8914 12-16-2011 06:01 PM

I don't think so, but I'll check later. However, I totally had a typo there. It should have said NOT from the actual element window. It has to come from the photo bin. If I pull the element in from the window it's in, it does change it to layer 1, etc. And I think I have PSE 8 too.

Does this happen for higher CS? I use CS3 and when I drag stuff unto my canvas it's just labeled "layer #" Or is this an option I can turn on?

I use CS3 and if I don't use the stacks way it always shows as "Layer X" and so on. It was actually because of that that I used PSE to actually set up my pages until I saw using stacks on Krystal's blog.

mrshobbes 12-17-2011 04:07 AM

ooooh, hmm I should check out this stacks option, then. Thanks, Trish! :)
