Dec 19- QotD- Do you do Elf on the Shelf?

Those ladies in the Elf on the Shelf thread have really made me wish my son was younger so I could have the mischievous elf stay at my house! :) I just think it looks so fun!

So, does the elf stay at your house? Are you tempted to do it next year?

mariewilcox 12-19-2011 05:38 AM

No, never heard of it until last year and thankfully neither had Cheyanne - LOL. By then she had reached an age where she didn't care about doing it.

scrapweaver 12-19-2011 06:22 AM

Would love to do it next year - I think my girls would love it :)

KateD 12-19-2011 06:56 AM

Even though my boys are older, they might enjoy seeing the elf up to his antics. I don't think I'll buy an elf, though. We have a snowman stuffie that my hubby and boys love (because he's slightly evil looking) that may get into some mischief in the next week or so.

MamaBee 12-19-2011 07:08 AM

This is the first year I'm doing it... and so far, my son has enjoyed it - even through he doesn't totally believe it's the elf getting into mischief.... Daddy will ask if he has found "elfon" and jake will say, "yes, I found him - but I don't know why mama changed all the photos in the living room to the elf or why she put toilet paper on the tree"...

KyRainbow 12-19-2011 08:28 AM

I'm right along with you Julie. I wish I had heard of this when my daughter was young enough to really enjoy it. She's at that "I'm a teenager and you're lame Mom" stage this year, lol.

SweetMelissa 12-19-2011 08:45 AM

We didn't do it this year but I have a feeling that we will do it next year.

lauren grier 12-19-2011 08:47 AM

no i think theyre creepy :p

emmasmommy 12-19-2011 08:51 AM

we don't, because, well, we just don't. BUT, this year at school, emma had one in her classroom and everyday she comes home to tell me about what elfie does every day. she absolutely adores it, so, i think next year we'll be getting our own elf. my youngest needs a reason to behave and i'll do whatever i have to do to make her behave. if it's a little elf, so be it :)

KimberlyMorris 12-19-2011 08:53 AM

I hope to do this next year. I don't think DS would quite understand it yet.

pewtertm 12-19-2011 08:57 AM

Nope, it doesn't interest me. My pinterest apparently loves it though, because for about a month at least half of the photos that turn up on there feature him. LOL

nesser1981 12-19-2011 09:19 AM

This is our first year doing it, the kids love it and so do I.

Stacey42 12-19-2011 09:30 AM

We have one, this is our third year & may be our last. The boys enjoy it but aren't as into it as last year. Or the advent calendar either. We'll see how it goes next year

NeverendingJen 12-19-2011 09:59 AM

there's not an option that fits. We love the idea, but we don't have children so it won't be done until we have some and they are old enough to enjoy it.

heathergw 12-19-2011 10:30 AM

I think it's cute and I love that you all are having so much fun with it and love seeing your pictures... but, we don't do Santa in our house so an Elf wouldn't make sense to do LOL

jannylynn 12-19-2011 10:41 AM

We don't have an elf. But I'm having a hard enough time keeping up with the Advent activities! I would probably have to give those up to focus on the elf.

kscwgirl 12-19-2011 11:00 AM

We didn't.. but... we're probably doing him next year.

Yep, this is us, too. My hubby would have too much fun with an Elf though. :)

rachaelsscraps 12-19-2011 12:24 PM

We're doing it and my kids love it! I know my daughter doesn't quite get it yet, but she's only 2, she still thinks he's hilarious though and says, "Elfie's cute!" and "Oh no! Where's Elfie?!" But my son (who's 6) is absolutely in love with Elfie, who he named himself. He wants to find him first thing in the morning, he hurries down the stairs so he can "catch him flying around". It's so cute! I almost think that he totally forgot about the Santa part of Christmas though, he's so fixated on Elfie! lol

julia 12-19-2011 01:38 PM

I never heard of it before this year, but I might do this next year! It seems really fun :)

kim21673 12-19-2011 01:57 PM

This is our first year! The boys are LOVING it!!!

SmallMoments 12-19-2011 01:59 PM

We're not doing it this year... and I wasn't planning on doing it ever. Between the book-a-day, an activity-a-day, and his Lego Advent calendar, I couldn't take on anymore. HOWEVER... Joel saw all of your photos and he wants to do it for Luke next year. LOL

lovely1m 12-19-2011 02:47 PM

I think its cute, but not something I could get into. I would forget about it probably.

jaylensmom 12-19-2011 02:49 PM

i think it's really cute but i don't think my little guy would be into it...

Kjersti 12-19-2011 04:22 PM

This is our first year doing it and I'm loving every minute of it!! I think I'll keep my eye out all year long for fun little props for next December!!!

kresta 12-19-2011 05:09 PM

I didn't vote since my option wasn't really there....We don't do Elf on the Shelf. It looks really cute, but we've been crazy-busy as it is, and that would be one more thing that I would be stressing over. Plus, I'm kinda trying to gently get out of the whole "Santa" thing, so adding an elf to the equation probably wouldn't help the cause. :)

Sasha 12-19-2011 05:12 PM

Its our first year with lil miss Emilee and she loves it! Wakes up looking for it every morning. My other two are teens and well they've helped me find things to do with him so its been fun...wish i knew when they were lil...
