And now I'm not alone - we have another glasses wearer...
 

Aiden was diagnosed with Amblyopia on Friday, but we were so concerned with what she was telling us (or not telling us for that matter - he'd see no real improvement because he was too old, wouldn't give us much in terms of how to patch, when to patch, if there was anything to be done), that we opted to go for a second opinion this morning with an opthamologist. He gave us some good news that while any vision will never be 20/20, that he's NOT too old for improvement, and that he feels that glasses, alone, will be a significant therapy, so no patching! (but he said we could for 1 hr a day if we wanted to - which of course we will if it'll help!)

(and no, that's not a bad haircut, that's a so-so haircut and a double cowlick that never lets his bangs lay the same way two days in a row. Today it looks like someone chopped his hair lol)

He looks great! Such good news from the second opinion, too.

My 5.5 year old is being treated for ambloypia and farsightedness (since she was 2.5 years old). She wears very thick glasses and will always need them. We're down to patching 1 hr per day now, down from a high of 6 hrs per day. Good luck, Darcy! Your little guy looks cute in his new specs!

Welcome to the world of kids in glasses. I now have 2 kiddos with glasses, and my oldest is complaining about her eyes now too. My kids are actually really good about their glasses and take good care of them. He looks great in his new specs!

how cute! I patched daily for 8 years from age 4 until I hit 12. I wore it round the clock from 4-8, and 4 hrs per day from 8-10, and 1-2 hrs per day from 10-12. It made a huge difference in my vision. I hope his corrects easily!

He is so cute. I am glad you got a second opinion. I am sure he is happier about only 1 hour in the patch instead of months!
