Two Page LO help

I did a LO for my daughter's birthday using a 12x24 template and now want to print it as two 12x12 LOs. I searched the forum for how to do this and most people refer to cropping the LO to 12x12. How does that work exactly - I just use the crop tool to move each side to a new file? Also, would I do that in psd format or after I've saved it as a jpg. Im using PSE. Sorry, I'm dense, need a step by step. : ) Thanks for any help!

I do this:
1. save the 12x24 layered file.
2. resize canvas (crop) to one of the 12x12 sides
3. save this as high-quality JPG
4. undo resize canvas
5. resize canvas to the other 12x12 side
6. save this as JPG

I also save the whole 12x24 as a JPG and that's the one that I keep - I delete the 12x12's after they're printed. I find it easier to keep track that way.

I'm not sure if this is the easiest way to do it, but it works for me.

this is what I do, but after I save the one with layers, I flatten it the whole thing. That way, when I go to crop, it's faster.... at least on my computer :p
