Anyone interested in a SSD southern get together?

I was thinking, I know there are a few of us just a few hours away from each other and I was thinking it would be fun to get together. I am willing to drive. Soooooooooooo is anyone else? Okay, where we gonna do this and when!! :)

MichaelsMomJo 03-20-2012 10:51 PM

I would be so willing to do something over the summer! Somewhere in GA, maybe?

Melissa Bennett 03-20-2012 10:54 PM

Ya I think Georgia or northern Florida would work. I have a travel trailer and would have room for some roomies. :)

Jenn Barrette 03-20-2012 10:59 PM

*sigh* anyone want to drive up to Canada to get me? LOL

Lyd 03-20-2012 11:09 PM

Ditto Jenn. I want in on one of these meet ups!

jacinda 03-20-2012 11:10 PM

I'm thinking by Southern you don't mean you're coming down to New Zealand huh? ;D

Melissa Bennett 03-20-2012 11:10 PM

How far over the border are you Jenn?

Melissa Bennett 03-20-2012 11:11 PM

Ya, that would be southern, but sadly we are just talking US southern. :(

dailydwellin 03-21-2012 04:13 AM

I may be up for it depending on when. I see you're in SC...we're moving there in June. :)

That's where our families are, so we're excited about being close to home. It will be the first time that we've been so close to home since my husband has been active in the Army.

jessica31876 03-21-2012 05:15 AM

I would love to. Florida would work for me or georgia :)

julifish 03-21-2012 05:45 AM

I'm in Florida too but I'm willing to go up to Georgia. I would need to meet on a weekend as I work full time during the week.
We probably have enough Florida girlies to do a Florida meet up in the Fall as well.

hollyxann 03-21-2012 06:54 AM

This Ohio girl wouldn't be able to make it down that far. :( Especially thanks to the little person I now have lol.

Tracyfish 03-21-2012 07:07 AM

Sure! I could do Florida or GA depending on when it is.

nikkiARNGwife 03-21-2012 07:09 AM

I would love to try...would depend on when and how I could juggle the kids.

kendallt 03-21-2012 07:20 AM

Me, me, me, me, meeeee!! (I'm just a little excited at the possibility; can ya tell? :p).

nesser1981 03-21-2012 07:30 AM

It was so much fun the last time we all got together!

emmasmommy 03-21-2012 07:34 AM

awwww. we HAVE to get a midwestern one soon. it all fell through before :(

LenaGardner 03-21-2012 07:36 AM

I'm a little closer to midwestern than southern. If it were Georgia, I might be able to make it depending on where in Georgia. Atlanta, for instance, is 6 hours from me and I could do that. I don't think I could do more than 8 hours though :)

NeverendingJen 03-21-2012 07:46 AM

I'm in! considering I'm 20 minutes from SC, I can do SC, GA, or FL.

dailydwellin 03-21-2012 08:04 AM

Atlanta might be a fun spot...

oh, I hope I'm not in the middle of moving when this happens!

NeverendingJen 03-21-2012 08:15 AM

I know for me, Atlanta is 4.5 hrs, so it might be a bit far for the FL girls.

Melissa Bennett 03-21-2012 08:18 AM

Okay, I'll have to dig out my maps and start looking at places. :) This will be AWESOME!!!!!!!!

Maybe we can get something set up for this summer Laura.

Neverland Scraps 03-21-2012 12:02 PM

Ha! We're in Richmond, just south of DC, but are moving south (to SC) this summer.

digideb 03-21-2012 01:09 PM

Oooh! YES! Atlanta is definitely perfect for me, since I'm only like 40 minutes away! :D And, I'm sure I could let a couple people stay in our 2 spare bedrooms too! :)

We were at Fort Benning, on the border of GA and AL--we were there for almost three years. It was about an hour drive to the Atlanta airport and about a 2 hour drive to the AG Store. Golly I miss it there, but I do not miss the heat and humidity!

I know right where it is! I'm near Macon.

What a steal! I can't get a hotel for six bucks! (I'll bring one for Alan too, since I'm a hot water hog.) Just kidding. About the shower, not the cupcake :p

LeeAndra 03-21-2012 05:48 PM

I owe my cousins in ATL a visit. If you had it in the fall so it's not eleventy billion degrees, I might be interested. ;)

BrattyMeg 03-21-2012 05:54 PM

would depend when and where for me :) Atl sounds perfect! lol

Melissa Bennett 03-21-2012 06:22 PM

Well it looks like Atlanta might be our best bet! I will probably bring my travel trailer, um I mean, Hotel on wheels!! :) Okay, now we need a date for this.

NeverendingJen 03-21-2012 06:24 PM

If we do Atlanta, It'd have to be summer for me most likely...while DH is in school, lol...

dailydwellin 03-21-2012 06:27 PM

I may be able to make late summer work. We're moving in June, so that month is out. I would love the break from unpacking, though!!

Melissa Bennett 03-21-2012 06:34 PM

Summer would work best for me with kiddos out of school.

NeverendingJen 03-21-2012 07:15 PM

July or August are the best for me, DH will be in school so I could take a few days in ATL. too bad there isn't anyone closer to Savannah to road trip over with!

LenaGardner 03-21-2012 07:34 PM

As long as it's not the same date as the Midwest Meetup, I'm good. Since I'm an SSDhoooer and all.

I think we're all envious of you being the SSDhoooer! I'd love to have more meetups.

LenaGardner 03-21-2012 07:38 PM

LOL! :)

I've been lucky enough to meet three SSDers already :)

My sister, who is the awesomest of awesome.

My Deb, who is also awesome.

And Kim G, (sprauncey1) who actually came to visit me when I had Parker in the hospital and we had a few playdates before that :)

Jenn Barrette needs to respond to the Midwestern one. She could put in a bid for Minneapolis. Just saying....

digideb 03-21-2012 09:11 PM

If its in Atlanta I'm pretty much good with anything since it is so close! :)

MichaelsMomJo 03-21-2012 09:26 PM

Atlanta sounds good. July is probably the best time for me, but I can try to work other times out.

Oh yeah! My oldest had to see a cardiologist in Macon, but I opted out of it and went to Atlanta instead since that's where my aunt lives. I figured she could keep the youngest while I took the oldest and if there were problems, I had a place to stay.

Macon isnt...err, wasn't that far from where we used to live.

Depending on when you do this, I might talk DH into letting the girls and I come down since I owe my friends at Benning a visit and could stop in on my aunt in Atlanta, since I already miss them so much! (we've only been gone about two months)

Melissa Bennett 03-21-2012 11:21 PM

Well July would probably work best since school starts in August here. I know the beginning of the month would not work, so maybe the middle or end of July. I would have room for 4 people in my hotel on wheels. LOL!

kendallt 03-22-2012 09:40 AM

Atlanta is about three hours from me, so sounds good! :)

kresta 03-22-2012 03:52 PM

I'm a "maybe". Live in FL panhandle. ATL is about 5 hours away. We'll see!
