Share Your Mother's Day Pics :)

I ususally don't have many and we ususally don't make a big deal of it around here, but my DH suggested we go out to dinner as a family tonight to beat the rush of tomorrow's festitivites, but I actually got all the kids to sit with me on the couch and take a picture after dinner! It's rough taking all 4 of them somewhere, but we didn't have too many meltdowns and the kids were super excited to get to go out to eat :) so share your pics here so we can see your special family :):hugs:

Tomorrow after our Whidby trip I will post some up! :D

rach3975 05-13-2012 07:56 AM

Great pics! Mother's Day will be low key here. I know the kids have things for me that they made at school, and DH probably picked up something small, too. We've been so busy lately that what I really want is a chance to sit and do some scrapping today, which works perfectly with DH's wish to stay home and watch sports. We were going to go out to dinner last night, but the kids were too tired after DS's baseball game to take them anyplace I'd want to go for Mother's Day. I don't know yet whether we'll try again tonight, but if not DH and I may order in.

i'm hoping they will take a photo with me today. my little guy woke up on the wrong side of the tent (they slept outside last night) and is in quite a mood. let's hope he gets over it by afternoon! :)

I so hate myself. Yesterday my son and I went together and picked up my MD present, a kindle fire, yeah, I am the luckiest of moms, and had dinner out. Did I remember to take a single photo? The answer is no. If I could figure out how to kick my own butt, I would.

On the bright side, you can still scrap the memory and use ANY kit you want because you don't have to match :)

Milmomma 05-13-2012 01:16 PM

I don't like photos of myself. Or am always the photographer. How do you ladies get over that?

Just do it :) I am the same way but decided that every now and then I need to be in "front" of the camera :) Set the timer and do it Brittney :)

Desire 05-13-2012 02:15 PM

I also am in most cases the photographer of my children, and we rarely photographed together...One of my favorite photos from today:

So very true. I could also use a pic of my new kindle. Thanks for the suggestion! :) :)

I agree with Angie, just do it. I absolutely do not like photos of myself, but lately I have been taking more and more of them. With each one, I am less stuck on what I am not and more happy that I am capturing who I am, flaws and all. (Thank you, Krystal. :) )

Also, portraits of you are a gift to your children. They will treasure them and only see the beauty of their mom no matter how bad you think you look. :)

Because the memories are for everyone in my family...and my kids see me looking like this 24/7. Regardless of whether I like what I see (I usually don't) my kids and husband don't have a negative thought about it, since it's their reality that they love flaws and all.

ETA: I don't have any pictures from today yet. One of my boys woke up with a fever and so that's put quite a damper on my Mother's Day Birthday. :( But DH just baked a cake and went to the store to buy steaks...there is hope yet!

HOpe this will work- it's straight off of facebook.

I won't have one of us all today, my Gracie is sick with some sort of tummy flu... Hopefully this week, we can make time for them, or at least something, I haven't taken any 'random daily' photos lately. :(

Great photos, everyone! We didn't take any. My DH is wonderful at many things, but photography isn't one of them. Instead of forcing the kids to pose for photos that I probably wouldn't have liked, I'm going to save it for later in the summer and let my brother take some of the whole family next time we see him. I've taken a lot of photos of the kids lately, but we don't have any good ones with me and DH, too.

YepBrook 05-13-2012 08:55 PM

This is the first Mother's Day I've actually stopped and handed my DH the camera so I could get a pic with the kids. Love these little munchkins.

Mine was a busy day ... and for once ... a LOT of pictures ... hadn't had this many in years ... in fact ALL of the family forgot Mother's Day last year ...

Today ... we went to the AMC Fork & Screen ... had an early lunch and watched the Pirates Band of Misfits (so funny!) ... then came home and grabbed our dog Blizzard and went to the KC Disc Dogs Play Date ... Brian (bottom pics) finally was able to get Blizzard interested in the frisbee...took having some treats flying around to catch the dog's attention. LOL It was a GORGEOUS day outside. My oldest son, Scott, surprised me with a bouquet of Rainbow Roses ... I had never been given a bouquet of roses in different colors before...so pretty!

...and I'm getting to build a 3D printer as part of my present too ...

So this is what we did today...DH took this picture with my cell phone while DD and I rode the new X-Flight Roller Coaster at six flags. I'm on the bottom right but unfortunately DD is hid by the chair in front of us. We had a really good day.

http://i872.photobucket.com/albums/a...k/x-flight.jpg

It's obviously not a great photo but I'm really impressed that DH was able to get a shot with me in the frame.

Some day, when you're gone, your children are going to cherish every single photo they have of you. Give them something to cherish.

We lost my brother-in-law last February in a tragic accident just 3 days after his 28th birthday. I don't have nearly enough photos of him with us, and NONE of him with my son.:crying:

nun69 05-13-2012 11:16 PM

these are all fabulous and I wanted to share another one from today!! it was like pulling teeth but at least they are ALL looking at the camera!

love seeing everyone's photos!! :)

jessica31876 05-13-2012 11:49 PM

I second that. Half of the photos I have of my son are of him covering his fact and he was IMO very handsome when he actually let me take his picture. Now that he is gone I wish I had take so many more photos of him growing up from the time he born until the day of his accident.

I have no photos of myself as a child because my mom was really selfish and burnt them all when she was angry at her kids (not just me all of us). What were left that did not get destroyed my stepfather now has and will not give to me because "Im his kid too" and he wants something to remember me by. Only I cant stand him and we have not had a relationship for years and he is the reason my mom and I were not close.

So really take lots and lots of pictures. You can never take to many, Posed pictures, candid photos, bad photos, good photos...doesnt matter everyone will be a memory for those you love when you are no longer around!!

No pictures of my family at the moment since a) not everyone is in the country and b) not everyone is talking to each other

Freckles 05-14-2012 05:00 AM

I had dh take lots of photos of me and the kids holding the present they made for me at school. I think there are only 1 or 2 where everybody looked at the camera, but still this one is my favorite. The flowers on the right was my gift from dh. :)

I agree!!! Please get photos of yourself...your family will want them. I don't get behind the camera very often ... and I should ... I have one child that I know will one day be upset when he finds out I was in very few ... because of this post, I am going to make sure I am in more!!

I was scanning negatives yesterday from 1983 ... in there was a picture of dh's sister who died at about 28 with cancer ... I have ONE photo of her with my oldest ... very few that I took myself of her (she would be way in background at parties and such) ... no way to go back and get more ... you just never know.

I loved seeing all the photos!! Thank you ladies!

We were up late Saturday night and then had to wake the boys up early on Sunday....DS1 doesn't do well when we wake him up. He had a pretty good meltdown over signing my card, so this was the best photo that DH could get.
