Have you ever walked out of a movie?

Popeye - 'nuff said.

7 - I knew it was going to be less than nice, but I found it it to go way beyond my comfort level of violence - to being somewhat pornographically violent.

tettletop20 06-19-2012 07:32 AM

Yep, the Spice Girls movie.

Nikki Epperson 06-19-2012 07:36 AM

We haven't, though Dusty really wanted to walk out of P.S. I love you. That would've been one I was willing to walk out of, because we had preview passes.
But I liked it, so we stayed :p

SmallMoments 06-19-2012 07:36 AM

Nope... but we usually only go to kids' movies with Luke. Adult movies we wait for RedBox or Netflix.

emmasmommy 06-19-2012 07:36 AM

nope
it costs more than our car payment usually to go to the movies so i'll sit and enjoy my popcorn if the movie is that bad.

MamaBee 06-19-2012 07:40 AM

hmmm... I don't think I have... but then, I can't remember the last movie we went to... hubby is cheap - so we usually do movie via RedBox. :D

seatrout 06-19-2012 07:44 AM

Yes - first time ever just recently when we went to see Chronicle. It was BAAADDDDD

pewtertm 06-19-2012 07:59 AM

Cry-Baby

Tracyfish 06-19-2012 07:59 AM

I can't remember ever doing it because of the cost too...I'd rather suffer and get my money's worth. But we also usually just see the kid movies in the theater.

sarahbhb 06-19-2012 08:01 AM

Big Night
and Finding Nemo but that was because my 2 yr old was screaming her head off before the movie even started...didn't even get past the previews. $40 for absolutely nothing.

Lindsay 06-19-2012 08:11 AM

The Thin Red LIne

Stacey42 06-19-2012 08:18 AM

Haven't walked out of a theater but have stopped many a rental DVD partway through and sent it back.

ZaCola3 06-19-2012 08:18 AM

No-I don't think it would occur to me that that was an option-Thankfully we don't go to many movie-we wait for Netflix or Redbox...

Shawna 06-19-2012 08:20 AM

The Thin Red Line. It started out with almost a full theater and by the time we decided to walk out, most everyone else had too it was SO bad!

sczos911 06-19-2012 08:58 AM

Absolute Power.

DawnMarch 06-19-2012 08:59 AM

Wild at Heart with Nicholas Cage.

webseitler 06-19-2012 09:02 AM

I would have liked to have walked out of Black Hawk Down. I also hated the first fifteen minutes of Saving Private Ryan. Shaky movies--ugh!

I did walk out of some Beethoven movie (not the dog movies--the real Beethoven). It was so slow and boring. And I was young and single--I could afford to leave. ;)

heathergw 06-19-2012 09:04 AM

no, we rarely go to movies though, so if we go, it's because everyone convinced us it's worth going... tho, we're cheap so we usually wait for Redbox LOL

dgreenshield 06-19-2012 09:48 AM

Yep, Grown Ups. I know people thought it was funny, it had way too much inuendo and crude humor for me.

Julie Billingsley 06-19-2012 10:16 AM

I haven't walked out of a movie in forever since I now check out reviews before I go. The last movie I can think of that I walked out of was La Bamba, but I agree with Stacy and should have walked out of Cry Baby, Johnny Depp's worst movie. I agree with Nicole and would have walked out of Black Hawk Down but that was a rental. I was pregnant when I saw it and it was so intense that I actually got sick over it.

newfiemountiewife 06-19-2012 10:57 AM

I only did this once, when Benjamin was 2 and we took him to his first movie. I *think* it was Finding Nemo and he just got bored.

Right now, we usually only go to kids movies, and they are always good enough to keep the kids captivated. If I get bored when I'm there with them, I'll have a nap LOL

mummytothree 06-19-2012 11:00 AM

Nope and we don't go to movies enough to warrant it. Other then the drive in during the summer I think we have gone to the movies only like twice in the last seven years!!! :D :D

Jennifer 06-19-2012 11:02 AM

Only a couple of times...I walked out of Scream in high school. It was too scary for me. ;) Hubby and I left a movie a couple of years ago, but I can't remember what it was..must have been that good, lol!

jessica31876 06-19-2012 11:28 AM

Onlly once because a lady was really rude to me as I was finding my seat and she tried to trip me as I left. If she had done it to my husband he would have been back in the hospital most likely. I went and complained to the manager and she gave us comp tickets and refunded our food purchase. I ended up not liking the movie when we went back though

haydensmommy217 06-19-2012 12:08 PM

There were a couple movies that were that bad that i wanted to walk out on but being a single mom i wasn't going to waste my money leaving like 10- 15 minutes in. Just like Julie I check reviews before I go.

Leila 06-19-2012 12:11 PM

The last time I walked out of a movie was in 1993--True Romance starring Christian Slater & Patricia Arquette. AWFUL.

taracotta7 06-19-2012 12:30 PM

Never walked out but like others said.......money and such a production to get there.....I just stay.

glumirk 06-19-2012 12:43 PM

No, but I fell asleep during Harry Potter 2. We were watching it Friday night at like 10:30 and I'd been up since 3 studying for an exam, and we were in the 2nd row so I was getting a headache. I went with my friends that time. When I went again with my family, there was a kid with HORRIBLE b.o. and I just about died during it, but I couldn't walk out because I was with my whole family.

We hardly ever go to movies these days and hardly even rent from Red Box anymore. We can be picky about what we watch though, so we try to make sure we will really like it first.

jacinda 06-19-2012 01:21 PM

Trainspotting. Just.....ewwwwww....

rach3975 06-19-2012 01:28 PM

We almost never go to the movies. The few movies we see in the theater are ones that we're almost sure we'll love, like favorite books made into movies or new kids movies that everyone has been saying good things about.

But now that I'm thinking about it, I had to leave Cars 2 with DD, who had just turned 3 and didn't get it well enough to sit still through the entire thing. DH and the boys stayed. And DS's friend had a movie theater birthday party at a movie that was not a good choice for kindergartners (Journey 2), so I had to leave with DS. Half the kids invited spent the movie part of the party in the lobby with us. Both of those were at a second run movie theater that charges $2 a ticket, so no big deal. I'm planning to take the kids to a few movies this summer, but we're only going there so we can leave if we need to.

farrijc 06-19-2012 01:30 PM

I go to the movies all the time, with girlfriends or with my kids. It takes a lot for me to hate something, but I did walk out of The Fisher King with Robin Williams. I remember nothing about it, just that it stunk.

If I had gone to the movies to see A Simple Plan, I would have been tempted. I rented it and kept thinking... surely this can't get any worse, but it did.

Nettio 06-19-2012 01:35 PM

I can't think of a movie I've ever actually walked out of but I was really tempted with The Hunger Games. Had Adam not been there I probably would have. Didn't like that one at all.

I almost walked out of the first Harry Potter movie but that was because my boyfriend at the time (who'd insisted we see it by the way) was totally whining that he was bored and ruining the movie for me.

I've made it through some really terrible movies though. Gosford Park, Clifford (not the big red dog, haha) and 2001: A Space Odyssey come to mind. :D

LeeAndra 06-19-2012 01:37 PM

Nah. I only go to the movies once every couple years, so I make sure it's one I really want to see before I get there.

NeverendingJen 06-19-2012 02:40 PM

Yes, but not in many years. I rarely go to the movies now because I always have to pee, or someone tall sits in front of me, or something happens and I can't enjoy it. I wait for everything to hit redbox or netflix pretty much.

winipeg1 06-19-2012 02:49 PM

I have never walked out but I have fell asleep more than once though. I have walked out on a cirque du soleil show though that was a waste of £75 ($117) It was the worst cirque du soleil I have ever seen. (delirium)

Lizzy257 06-19-2012 02:54 PM

I don't recall ever walking out of a movie.....but I'm one of the ones who would want to get her money's worth :D. It's rare that I see anything aside from kids movies though, I always wait for anything else.

nesser1981 06-19-2012 03:14 PM

Several, actually.

Blast from the Past
The Talented Mrs. Ripley
Blair Witch 2 (stationed in Japan, not many movies came, so we saw everything)
Passion of the Christ-Too much for me, I was sobbing, couldn't take watching it to the end.

4noisyboys 06-19-2012 03:19 PM

I almost walked out of Avengers last month, but not because I wasn't enjoying it. The AC wasn't working in there, kids were screaming the whole movie, running up and down the aisles...

I complained instead after and got 6 free tickets. We used them to see Dark Shadows (just ok) and Rock of Ages (both RIck and I really enjoyed it). As a matter of fact, one of my boys and his gf went to see Rock of Ages last weekend too, and they really enjoyed it as well. Over the top, but it's meant to be. It was just fun!

Blast from the Past was one of my favorites! LOL I saw it at home though, but I really enjoyed it!

I really couldn't have said it any better than this, LOL

SweetMelissa 06-19-2012 04:19 PM

No I've never walked out of a movie. I wanted to so bad during The Break Up but that was because I was alone. DH (who was my finance at the time) was at AIT and nobody else wanted to see the movie. I had to get out of the house and I just went. There were so many couples around me that I ended up silently crying because I missed DH soo bad. He had already been gone for 3 months and we had another 2 and a half to go.

Lyd 06-19-2012 04:21 PM

I've never walked out of a movie, and I can only think of one time when I even thought about it. In general, I'm pretty picky about which movies I pay that much money to see. If I'm not pretty sure that I'm going to like/love it, I just wait for it to come out on DVD.

lovely1m 06-19-2012 05:44 PM

I stick out all movies. I think there have only been 1 or 2 DVDs I have even stopped.

JulieB146 06-19-2012 07:59 PM

The Running Man, starring Arnold Schwazzernager.... Hubby (boyfriend at the time) got so angry at the way the movie made the audience part of the bloodsportage/audience in the movie, he stalked out, and I had to run after him! I think that was back in 1987.

DawnMarch 06-19-2012 08:02 PM

I was tempted to walk out of Schindler's List. Not because it was a bad movie, but because it was such a good movie that it was intensely painful to watch. I stuck it out but I doubt I would ever watch it again. I'm less inclined to watch "important" or sad movies than I used to be -- I'm paying to be entertained, not depressed.

mrshobbes 06-19-2012 09:10 PM

OMgah, The English Patient. I felt it just draaaaaaaaaaaaaagged on and on. I know it was Oscar nominated and everything but...yeah.

I sat through that one...but it's approximately 2 days of my life that I will never get back. Slowest movie ever!

scrap2day 06-19-2012 11:14 PM

Road House with Patrick Swayze. I think because it was too violent.

Platoon. Not my choice. Didn't "technically" walk out but I spent a lot of the time in the bathroom talking with friends. Way too violent for me.

A movie called 8mm starring Nicolas Cage....that movie was disgusting and awful and we left less than half way through.
