That was a pet name for Meg..not a baby name suggestion..LOL! Just clearing that up. :)

Tracyfish 03-14-2008 02:02 PM

I'm replying here too-not worried about the point :)...I love the middle name Rae, if L.J. had been a girl he was going to be Shelby Rae.

Other suggestions that I liked when I was preggo that hubby thought were too non-traditional...

Presley
Piper
Ryder

Becca Bonneville 03-14-2008 02:02 PM

I named my daughter Savannah Jefferson. LOL! So of course I like that one! LOL!!

Ashley Pigford 03-14-2008 02:06 PM

Kellen
Kaelen or Kalen
Aubrie Kate

ZaCola3 03-14-2008 02:08 PM

LMBO Manda-Dollface Mandabean seems perfect!

Rae is my Mom's middle name, my middle name & Kelsie's middle name! So it's definitely a good choice!

My girls are Kaylie and Kelsie so obviously I'm partial to those names ;) But others I like are -

Kylie or Kyleigh
Kambrie
Keira
Aubrey
Brooklyn
Haydin
Blake
Chayce (this is SMJ's DD's name & I think it is so cute!)

pbumbaca 03-14-2008 02:44 PM

I heard the name Emma Rose the other day and loved it. If I had a girl she was going to be Jessica Rose so that may be half the reason! ;)

ColleenSwerb 03-14-2008 02:53 PM

I'm still fighting with Jordan, but I want to name our future baby girl Ella May :)

Other than that, I like Olivia, Claire, Charlotte, Colleen :p Nothing too unusual about those though.

kscwgirl 03-14-2008 03:34 PM

Wait. I thought y'all already had her name squared away.

lhaslem 03-14-2008 03:54 PM

I'm partial to Kylie (but since you've already got a rhyming name we'll cross that one off the list).

One of my favorite names is Bailey - but my husband said no way could we name after "Party of Five"...

Others I like:

Mallory
Audrey
Piper

digi-gee 03-14-2008 04:07 PM

I posted mine on blog but here's a couple more. I like Lyndon , sounds like Lindin.
Someone else may have said this already but Camryn which sounds like Camron is cute. Awful lot like Camdyn though, that would be confusing.

scrappychic 03-14-2008 04:26 PM

I'm with you - I have 3 girls and 2 female pups - so I have a Mckenna, Cheyenne, Piper, Bailee and Callia.

What we didn't pick are:
Savannah
Tahara
Kylie
Scarlett
Sabrina
Tatum
Sultana
Tabitha

Big decision! Good luck!

ColleenSwerb 03-14-2008 06:06 PM

Oh I totally love Tatum!!

Micheline Lincoln 03-14-2008 06:22 PM

I love my dd's name cause it's super original*dh named her*
Mystaya (we call her Mysty for short)
it's pronounced Misstaya
I also love the names starlyn and lacey

Hom74 03-14-2008 06:46 PM

Nothing unique, but I had wanted to name one of my girls Mindy. DH didn't like that name though :(

nun69 03-14-2008 07:52 PM

I posted on the blog but we named DD Abigail Louisa and call her Abby Lou~and she was gonna be a Payton, but DH changed her name before we got out of the delivery room and OMG it is SO SO fitting for her!

so I decided to have a Peyton anyway  he was born 7/20/07....nothing original but my oldest DD is Sam {unisex}...
can't wait to see what you decide! good luck!

Ooooh, I love that!!

I must admit I'm not the biggest fan of names being different for the sake of being different. I don't mind different names and spellings, but some can come off as trying way too hard to be different, know what I mean? Now a different name that really flows, and just really suits the child can sound amazing though. I honestly think there's nothing wrong with leaving final decisions on a name until your child is born. I think you'll often just know which name is right once you meet them.

I adore a lot of old fashioned names. Many are becoming more popular again, so I'd recommend checking those lists online that show the top ten names for girls and boys by year. I'd always intended to name a little girl Emma after my grandmother, and if we had decided to have kids those lists showed that our poor daughter probably would've been absolutely surrounded by other Emmas. And those not named Emma would've been named Emily, lol. Might not seem like a big deal, but your child would probably quickly tire of 10 other kids answering every time her name's called.

Okay, so you're probably sick of me rambling on about this. :p Here's a couple names for you to love or hate, as you see fit. :)

One of my young nieces is Pyper with a "y" which I think is pretty cute.

Ever since the first time I saw How To Make An American Quilt I've been in love with the name Finn for a girl. On the right little girl I think it would be just adorable, and you could spell that with a "y" also.

jocelinsmommy 03-14-2008 09:26 PM

I like the names

Brooklyn
London
Jocelin or Jocelyn
Emersyn
Aimee
Ashlyn (have a cousin name this)
Jade or Jayden

I think after reeading I much like My childrens names having a Y somewhere in there lol :):) Can't wait to find out what you name her :D

My Abby is Abigail Lucille. :)

BrattyMeg 03-14-2008 10:18 PM

ty ladies!! Love the suggestions so far :)

Sara we did have a first name but now we're rethinking it since we can't find a middle name we like with it..blech

kscwgirl 03-14-2008 10:19 PM

Ah. I was confused. LOL

rochelle789 03-14-2008 11:32 PM

We just had a baby girl and debated about names for months. We ended up with Audrey Elizabeth, but here are a couple others we considered. No alternative spellings are here, but maybe this will spark some ideas.

Taryn
Maren
Allison
Teegan (DH's suggestion, not mine)
Katie/Kate
Maggie

Leila 03-14-2008 11:50 PM

I'm a big fan of Leila...so long as it's pronounced Lee-la over Lay-la. :D

My taste in girls' names runs towards the "exotic" traditional. DH and I have three names lined up for girls: Mariana, Annelise, and Graciela.

meganmecrazy 03-14-2008 11:52 PM

Aubrey (my DD's name so I gotta put that as my #1 pick)
Aislyn
Devyn

thumper6423 03-15-2008 12:08 AM

It's pretty traditional, but had we ever had a girl, our name was Hannah Rae. If you like the name you can take it. I have 2 boys and there will be no more. And I agree with a previous poster. Rae is a great name. It's my middle name LOL

Great suggestions ladies :)

ajf9597 03-15-2008 03:36 PM

Here are a couple from me:
Abigail
Alaini
Lani/Laney
Samiya/Sahmiya
Brooklyn
Zion Lee/Zion Leigh
Ryann (pronounced like Ryan or pronounced Ry-Ann)
Allie/Ally

Traci Reed 03-15-2008 03:48 PM

Karsten's girl name was Ryanna Mar'E (Mar'E is a family name)...we were gonna call her Ryan though...I heart boy names for girls :)

Kat Stokes 03-15-2008 06:21 PM

I wanted to name our girl (if we had had one) Jaime Nicole but DH hated it. He liked Kimberly Nicole. But, since we have our two boys, Derrick & Rhett, I think the girl names are out... That is unless we change our minds in a couple of years.

People keep asking if we are going to have a girl and name her Katie Scarlett since we have a Rhett. Ummm, no. Katie is too close to Kathi and I have not really met a Katie yet that I have really liked.

mummytothree 03-16-2008 02:14 PM

I am HORRIBLE at girl's names, it took almost the whole 9 months for both of my DD's pregnancies to come up with names. Thank god my last two pregnancies were boys...I can pull boy's names I love outta my butt!!!! :D

But since neither of my girl's names were mentioned I'll give you those because they actually do fit your description of unisex names and all though I spelled them "normal" they could both potentially have unique spellings!!

My oldest is Sydney Paige and my youngest is Reese Elizabeth.
