more prayers for my husband

This week he started feeling sick again. Since he had his gall bladder removed he has felt sick a lot from it. Well on top of that his lungs are getting bad again. He went to the ER for the nausea. They got that stabilized and sent him home but told him he needs to be seen by his pulmonologist very soon to call and make an appointment in a day or two max. His lungs did not sound that bad to me when he went to the hospital but overnight they got really bad. His lung dr wants him to come in to his office for an emergency appointment today but his HMO requires a referral for that. He switched primary care drs but has not been to his new primary care dr yet as his first appointment is coming up next week so they cannot do a referral. His old primary care dr is no longer treating him so they are saying they cannot do a referral either. Without the referral the appointment could easily cost several hundred dollars. So the only other alternative would be to admit him once again to the hospital to run the tests and get him breathing better. So I do not know what they are going to do with this. I guess if it comes down to it we will have to have him admitted to the hospital because we cannot afford the couple hundreds to have the tests done and have the checkup done in the lung dr's office. Somehow though we will get him treated I just need prayers that this time they will find the cause of the breathing issues...why he is getting out of breath so quickly/wheezing/coughing etc. It is getting pretty bad even with him being on steroids, two inhalers and a nebulizer.

It is looking like the dr is just going to admit him to the hospital. Which is ok with me. They can get the tests done. I think the pulmonologist wants to do a scope now. Im not sure. He just got off another round of steroids and antibiotics. He is also on a nebulizer and two inhalers. He has been sick for so long with this stuff in his lungs and it really has me worried that it is just not improving despite all the treatments

Kara 05-16-2013 03:41 PM

Praying. Pulmonary stuff is nothing to mess around with, so I'm glad they're admitting him.

fifilur 05-16-2013 04:12 PM

Hope the doctors can help him and that things change for the better!

Lots of prayers hun, please let us know how he is doing. :hugs:

rach3975 05-16-2013 09:09 PM

Lots of P&PT. I hope they're able to find the cause of his breathing problems and you see some lasting improvement this time.

jessica31876 05-16-2013 09:20 PM

I will update when I know more. I am at home with my son so I have to wait until he can talk because he was pretty nauseous when he left home. So far they dont know anything just running some routine tests and then we will know more.

AmberK 05-16-2013 09:52 PM

So sorry about this Jessica. Hope they find answers soon. Praying for your hubby!

kscwgirl 05-16-2013 11:13 PM

Admitting him is probably the best thing. Hugs babe, keep us posted!!!

jessica31876 05-17-2013 12:23 AM

I talked to him finally. He sounds really bad. From the coughing I guess his voice is really raspy. Right now they have him on a heart monitor because they did an EKG when he got to the hospital and he said the doctor was concerned. I am scared for him and wish I could be there with him so I could talk to the doctors to know for sure what is going on and not getting it second hand. They ordered cultures and I know those take like 48 hours so I am guessing he will likely be there through the weekend.

xboxmom 05-17-2013 02:10 AM

Sucks Jessica, hoping they figure it out soon!

jessica31876 05-17-2013 02:33 AM

He finally got into his own room now and is sleeping. I spoke to his nurse and she said he showed negative for influenza and negative for infection. His oxygen levels dropped to 91 which is pretty low so they have him on oxygen, prednisone (steroid) and some antibiotics. This is the same thing that happened in November that he got really sick and ended up in the hospital for almost a week but they found no infections, his xays were all clear yet he was having breathing problems still. The baby is having the same issues with breathing. She has been on a nebulizer for a week now along with steroids, allergy meds and antibiotics and they had to switch her formula to a different one because the medications had irritated her stomach and it was making her have projectile vomiting. Oh and the transmission is going out on our truck right now :(

jacinda 05-17-2013 03:06 AM

Hugs Jessica. Your family is in my prayers too.

jessica31876 05-17-2013 01:51 PM

thanks for the prayers. They still do not know what is causing it. He does sound a lot better today then he did yesterday & Tuesday when he first started feeling badly. The dr said if he feels better tomorrow he could possibly come home so I am crossing my fingers.

I hope the doctors are able to figure out and treat what ever is going on with your hubby, Is there any possibility it could be something airborne or something he (and your daughter) have been exposed to and may have a sensitivity to? Just a thought. Hope he's home with you soon.

jessica31876 05-18-2013 08:26 AM

he is getting better. hopefully will be home today or maybe tomorrow. he was in a car accident 2 years ago and had a lot of damage to his lungs. His pulmonologist does not seem to believe that is what caused the attacks he gets but we were told to expect that when he was released from rehab after the car accident (rehab for traumatic brain injuries).

My granddaughter is sick as well but they live 25 miles away and while we do go to her house I doubt the two have anything in common. The baby has allergies to something and is being treated. She is ok but it is very stressful for her to be sick and have to give her the breathing treatments because she just screams through them and they last like 10 minutes. I babysit her at least once a week and have to do her treatments when Im taking care of her. I just hate seeing her sick. Hopefully this will be an isolated thing for her and not something that repeats over and over.
