Drawing Tablet for 13 year old son

Hi ladies

My son has asked for a drawing tablet for Christmas. When we limit his electronics time he often draws for fun and now he wants to draw on an electronic. I can't win.

I'm completely overwhelmed by the choices and price points.

He is 13 and doing this for a hobby.

We mostly use apple products but he is in to gaming so his computer is Windows.

I thought maybe you artsy people would have some input for me!

Thanks in advance.

do you want a tablet, or like a graphics tablet that can be connected to the computer?

On Amazon Canada they have the small Wacom 7.9"x6.3" on for $65 and the Huion 10"x6.25" for $64

I have the latter because it's cheap and I don't really use it often. My niece also has it as she draws using PSE and really enjoys it.

I have a "bamboo" but it is mainly for use with another product such as Photoshop or maybe something else like paint. My Grand-daughter used it all of the time as she was into drawing when she was that age.

mine started off with the wacom tablet where you see what you're drawing on your computer.. now has moved on to using my older ipad pro with the pencil but he was able to do great things with the wacom!

clipartstudio was his software of choice for drawing on the comptuer with the wacom :)

depending on if you have ipads you could also look at purchasing the apple pencil (it works for the pro but also some of the other ipad models)

He said one that doesn't require a computer?! Not sure if wants the ability to connect to a computer. I'll have to check with him!
