Are you ever surprised...

...at the comments you get on certain LO's? I mean, do you have a LO that you didnt think was all that fantastic but you get tons of comments? Or is there a lO that you LOVE but didn't get a big response? I have a few LO's like that. I have one that has 17 responses  that i like but wasn't expecting that kind of reaction, lol. thanks, lol!

ColleenSwerb 05-27-2008 10:29 AM

Happens more with LO's I LOVE that don't get much love. But whatever, such is life, lol :)

my3hens 05-27-2008 10:52 AM

That happens to me all the time LOL! I bet the layout was beautiful honey, I love all your work!!

MelissaL88 05-27-2008 11:00 AM

It happens all the time to me too. I can never figure out why, either. Oh well! C'est la vie! :)

Amy Carey 05-27-2008 11:04 AM

What cracks me up every time is getting complements on my "title work" and it turns out it was a piece of word art, rofl

newfiemountiewife 05-27-2008 11:05 AM

This happens to me constantly. The pages I really like, get hardly any comments, and some odd ones I'm not happy with usually get more. I don't know why LOL

Paula 05-27-2008 11:10 AM

I'm not surprised as much as I am thankful for the comments. I do get surprised when I see a "big" name scrapper comment on my LOs. That always feels neat.

dballance 05-27-2008 11:15 AM

Same thing, the layouts that I LOVE don't get alot of comments, but honestly it doesn't bother me, my family loves them and that's all that matters. I just chalk it up to different tastes.

mrs_jb 05-27-2008 11:32 AM

Yep, I get that all the time! And I agree with Paula that it's so neat to get a comment from a scrapper that I really admire or a designer!

MikkelPaige 05-27-2008 11:35 AM

I don't really get that many comments on my layouts. LOL. Maybe they don't hit the galleries at the right time? So if I get 4 comments I'm blown away.

scarletsierra 05-27-2008 11:45 AM

Happens to me too! Both ways..sometimes there's a LO I really like that goes over like a lead balloon and then there's some I'm feeling a little "meh" about that really evoke a response from people.

twentytinytoes 05-27-2008 12:10 PM

Yah that happens to me all the time too LOL Thats why I don't like to play praise games etc. I like it when people want to give me there comments, I dont want to ask for them and then they have to find something nice to say about it. Does that make sense? lol

I also love it when "big name" scrappers or designers leave comments it makes you feel special that they took the time out to do that. Especially when you love them so much. But any comment really does make me happy LOL

Becca Bonneville 05-27-2008 12:13 PM

I totally know what you mean! I am just thankful for any comment though! LOL! There is a lot of amazing talent here and I appreciate it when something of mine gets noticed.

deenasuprema 05-27-2008 12:30 PM

I have noticed that as well... And I am not a big gallery commentor and do not usually play praise games, So if I get more than one or two comments on any layout I am surprised LOL... I do try to return love though :)

mommyofphoenix07 05-27-2008 12:38 PM

Ya know...on the whole big name designer topic...however silly this may seem...I love that the girls here get onto the forum. I always get all giddy. I'm like. Lauren Grier acknowledged my existence! Omg! Krista Cronin Barrow knows I'm alive! Misty Cato admired a picture of my son! Omg. It's like my mini fandom. The sweet shoppe girls. Haha. I know I'm crazy and too easily pleased. (note, ALL of the SS designers are big name in my book, the ones listed were simply examples, not directly naming anyone is no reflection on the ones I recognize more or less :) )

kscwgirl 05-27-2008 02:56 PM

I've had it happen too.... the ones I love get nothin. LOL But... I've had it the other way.. ones I'm just kinda eh about, get comments. :) I love all comments though.

juliemarie 05-27-2008 03:53 PM

LOL, yes the ones I like the most seem to get the least comments

I'm totally feelin' ya girl! One time Natalie Braxton commented on my layout, and I was hyperventilating...Nat.a.lie.Brax.ton.o.my.gosh!

And I know the topic of "forced" praise is a delicate one, but here's my take on it: when I play praise, I find something in every layout on the same page with me that I can genuinely appreciate. Lots of time I have to leave praise for something that isn't my style, but since someone put hard work into it, I try to see it from her perspective and leave her some love. It is in no way insincere. And since my designers give me free product, I figure the least I can do is take ten minutes to play praise so that my page gets viewed by at least ten people, because the gallery at DST moves so stinkin' fast, unless you're a "big name" you're bound to get lost in the crowd.

krystalhartley 05-27-2008 08:29 PM

This does happen with comments, but I REALLY see it in my projects that are selected for publication. The ones that I totally love don't get any responses, but they want some mediocre project that I only submitted...well, because why not?...wth? This has happened more than I care to admit, and I'm completely baffled by it.

It's amazing when I find someone who puts my opinion in words so perfectly. Ditto, ditto, ditto!

Maybe most people don't know it's a piece of word art. I for one read the credits for things such as if it's a template or a word art is used. sometimes you can't tell or you don't realize it's part of the kit. But I hear ya on the "LOL" part - I've giggled over it too!

scrappychic 05-28-2008 11:25 AM

I usually don't get a lot of comments, but yeah, one that I uploaded yesterday got some comments. I really didn't know where I was going with that page, I changed my mind several times and just wanted to finish it. I got comments in 3 of the galleries I posted it in, which is pretty good considering I usually get zilch, zero, nada.

LOL, I got a comment from Natalie yesterday and I had the exact same reaction!

I have experienced both times of comment situations. I'm not too baffled by not getting comments. But I had one layout that got lots of comments for reasons unknown to me and I am still perplexed about it.

Sometimes it's just a matter of hitting the gallery at the right time I guess.

LeeAndra 05-28-2008 01:32 PM

I get the most comments on my pages when I (a) journal especially if it's not the usual rainbows 'n' sprinkles kind and (b) scrap a baby. Imagine how many I would get if it was a 'deep' baby page! :)

I totally suck at commenting on people's work, though, so I don't get too worked up if I don't get any back. I assume that lots of scrappers are the same way I am and do driveby gallery-ing on a regular basis.

You know I really love you when I start leaving your random NSBR comments on your gallery (right, E?!) that have nothing whatsoever to do with the page. At that point, it feels silly to say 'great page' or 'neat colors' when I know all abt your life, where you vacationed last year, what your youngest is allergic to, etc., kwim? Then I just leave you lub.

Speaking of, my shoes are awesome. I don't do flowers on my shoes.
