Have you watched the one on Netflix about the Menendez Brothers called Monsters? So good! I got through the whole thing in 2 days I was obsessed.

Robin Carlton 10-07-2024 10:22 AM

I watch a LOT in this genre. These are all some of my faves / the shows I found most interesting in recent memory. I think all of these are a great watch depending on what you find interesting.

CULTS - Cults are so weird. I really don't get how people fall into this kind of garbage, but it's fascinating to me... and all of these are really good!

The Vow
Stolen Youth - The Cult at Sarah Lawrence
Dancing for the Devil - the 7m Tik Tok Cult
Escaping Twin Flames
Wild Wild Country
LuLa Rich
Keep Sweet, Pray and Obey

WEIRD PEOPLE / POP CULTURE / SPORTS

Quiet on the Set
Natalia Grace
Shiny Happy People
Onision IRL
The Mind of Aaron Hernandez
Athlete A
ICARUS
Grizzly Man
Blackfish
Tickled

CRIME DOCS / SERIES

The Keepers
Murdaugh Murders - A Southern Scandal
The Staircase
I'll be Gone in the Dark
Don't F**k with Cats
Making a Murderer
American Murder - the Family Next Door
American Murder - Laci Peterson
I Love You... Now Die
Evil Genius
There's Something About Aunt Diane
The Killing Season
Into the Fire: The Lost Daughter

DRAMATIZATIONS

Mindhunter - OMG so good. So sad Netflix cancelled it.
The Act
Candy
Monsters
Dahmer - I couldn't get through this and dramatizations aren't my fave, but people say it's good.

Ok... I'll stop. Might have gotten a little carried away haha :D Don't get me started on podcasts in the same genre... we'll be here all day :P

Brendazzle 10-07-2024 10:25 AM

Co-signing the sadness over Mindhunter being canceled. It was sooo good.

Ferdy 10-07-2024 10:40 AM

ohhh Robin and Laura...precious material here!! I'm the kind of person that can watch this kind of thing at night, but I can't see a movie/show if a dog dies...

KristinCB 10-07-2024 10:57 AM

maybe not totally in the same genre but I thought the miniseries chernobyl was really good!

vicky23ny 10-07-2024 11:53 AM

Will Trent is a nice crime show, similar to Monk. I really like it. There have been 2 seasons already.

If you like to watch actual trials, go watch the trial of Darrel Brooks. It's a trainwreck that you can't look away from.

Leablahblah 10-07-2024 06:10 PM

I'm almost done with A Good Girl's Guide to Murder

not true crime but a nice mini series about a murder

Oh my gosh! Carrie! It's my secret obsession. Ask Olivia. I've watched it so many times through. I know what's going to happen, but he's so fascinating. The gall or pride or whatever he has to act like he didn't do anything . . . I can't understand it and I really want to. LOL

I like to watch it when I'm cross stitching because I can just listen and then look up occasionally. I thought the prosecution team and the judge were awesome in keeping the trial as clean as they could for appellate reasons.

Anyway, DID YOU SEE his sorry tail CRYING when he was sentenced for his crime against EP? I'm like, DUDE, cry for all those people. Instead, he's crying about his children and his own self!

OK, off my soap box. If I didn't think Olivia would string me up by my toenails, I'd recommend a "Crime To Escape" series. :D

That guy is seriously something else. He ruined other trials for me because I'll randomly yell out GROUWNDS! :D

**snort**

My fave part was when Lesli Boese would say OBJECTION and then talk really fast to get in her grounds before he yelled GROUNDZ! I think she was actually having fun. I know it was fun watching it.

Another favorite part was Zach Witchow's statement when Darrell was trying to show off those photos of his grandchild and he said , "If Ericka Patterson is a bad mom [as DB is trying to say), Darrell Brooks has causation."

Grounds for the substain!
"Alleged" defendant
Was that a shoot to kill shot?
When am I going to get to make my record?

And let's not forget every word he messed up:
Conversate
Biast
This that and the third

Oh, I gotta stop. I'm gonna end up watching it tonight, I can tell.

I'm not going to suggest anything that would cause family strife but clearly, it would be a big seller here ;)

3BluEyedBabi 10-07-2024 07:36 PM

I just started watching Call the Midwife.

Ferdy 10-07-2024 07:53 PM

I think I've find my tribe in this thread!!!

loving all the recommendations, I've already seen a few on the posts, but I really have a lot to watch!!

I hope my fiance doesn't go away from home! LOL!!

I love it...you know Zach loved laying it all out for him...letting everyone know she was a minor.

Another word he messed up all the time was accurate.

I'll never forget Illinois vs Allen....90611...subject matter jurisdiction. So.many.things. :D
