This is probably the best way to describe a Mac..."It just does".

Seriously, once you start using your Mac and get used to the differences between a Mac and a Windows machine, you will see just how simple things run on a Mac. Overall, I find Macs to be more user-friendly.
I have a LaCie EHD and it works fine with my Mac. I am not really aware of a brand that you
can't use. It will just be formatted to use with your Mac and you are good to go. I plan to get Time Capsule though so that I can have a wireless EHD!
I have an Apple iBook and LOVE it. I want to upgrade to a MacBook Pro one day but really, my 3 year old iBook works just fine. The only problem I had was caused by a bad stick of RAM. Otherwise, I haven't had any other issues with my Mac.
I don't have to deal with crazy viruses. I rarely reboot my Mac. I love the interface and love the iLife suite of programs that comes with it. Looking forward to being able to use Time Machine to backup all my stuff once I get a dedicated EHD for the backup.
