Think of it not as telling her 'no'. Rather a 'yes with conditions'. Yes she can print her posters if she is prepared to do the work and accept the cost.

I agree, it only gets harder as they get older. And some kids do better if they hear why you are saying no or let them be part of the team finding a solution that works for everyone. As a family of legal minded people my girls have already gotten good at the art of negotiation and they are only 5 and 7.
