Have you backed up your zip files too or just the actual files? If so, try to unzip them again on your mac and see if that'll work. I have had issues with things not working when I transitioned form PC to MAC so I get your frustration. Why your files are behaving like this I can't explain, but it might be becuase they have been unzipped in a windows system and therefore won't work in an OS machine. Could be worth checking out.
