Hedgehog, actually. And she had a friend whose human was a rabbi so *he* got to play dreidel for treats. (She also had 2 brothers who were not as well-behaved but were allowed to pose in front of the menorah too.)

I am team garland. I do a lot of balloon garlands but maybe you could make a tinsel 'tree' on the wall and hang your ornaments that way? (A quick Google search brought up this collection of examples:
