So, first off, I have a specific question about how one goes about changing their forum username? Is it possible? Allowable?
But that question prompted me to ponder usernames in general...
My username here is karlimarie but pretty much only in the scrapbooking world. Karli-Marie is my actual full name, but it never caught on - it's just too cumbersome... so IRL people just call me Karli - and at this point, switching to Karli-Marie would be kind of weird to my ears. Back in the siggie forum days everyone would "call" me KM for short... even when typing
But in writing I still always go by Karli-Marie, especially in documents and such for consistency. On my FB page I even went by Karli-Marie for the longest time. But then I got married and decided to hyphenate my last name - which left me with not only FIVE names, but a double-hyphenate to boot! WHEW. My full name NEVER fits in digital systems, so I usually have to drop the hyphens, or my middle name, or part of my last name. Every time I sign documents I think: Girl! You did this to yourself!
Maybe a year or so ago I dropped the -Marie on my FB page. It threw people off for a sec, but I haven't looked back. Realistically, it's had little to no impact on my life

but it kind of felt like that minute and a half when your junk counter is actually clear of clutter - like a form of moniker minimalism.
As I've tried to move in different directions with my hobbies and careers I've added different usernames to my roster, I usually try to keep Karli or KM in the mix, so like when I was digi designing I went by KM Ink Designs, then KM Ink Photography when I was in my shutterbug era, and when I'm focused on prek activities and printables I use Ms. Karli Teaches, and sometimes I use Karlicreates when I do digital drawing. I recently started up with Karliscraps for my digital scrapbook pages and timelapse videos. I'm actually shocked it took me this long to have a specific username dedicated to scrapping because of all my hobbies I think scrapbooking has stood the test of time better than others.
Anyhow - that's the short story long of how I started thinking about changing my forum name from karlimarie to karliscraps.
I know it's not exactly a pressing matter, but I'm curious... What are your thoughts?
How did you choose your username? Has there been an evolution over time, or are you still using the name you chose in like 1998?
Do you use different usernames across different platforms/forums, or does your username stay the same?
Does a rose by another name smell as sweet?
