It's kind of the worst, but also the funniest.
Last year Jordan and I spent Christmas with his family (we switch off who gets us on the holidays). It was the first time I spent them with his family, and it was also the first holiday after our engagement. His Dad's parents are very old fashioned (we sleep in separate rooms when we go there), and also EXTREMELY cheap. Every year they get a proof set of coins, and some money for Christmas. I was not expecting anything at all.
So imagine my surprise when Granny starts talking about how wonderful I am, and how nice it is to have me there for Christmas. She then starts talking about how she had asked Debbie for a gift idea (something Penn State, naturally, cuz they could go to any mall near them and find PSU stuff) but she didn't want to do that. So then she was going to get me driving gloves, but she didn't know what color coat I had.
So instead, I got a tube of hand cream (to keep my hands pretty now that I had that ring on my finger) with a $20 bill rubberbanded to it, and an oven mitt. (I don't cook.)
We STILL laugh about that
