I dislike those commercials, too (but I do love a sale). It just seems like it's teaching our youth, "hey, you don't like what grandma gave you? That's ok, show her and go buy what you REALLY wanted!" I think what's missing is how you would make the other person feel if you did something like that. I know if someone was like, "Oh, I don't like this gift you gave me. Can I have the receipt to exchange it for something I want?" I would be really hurt.
This year we have been trying to teach the girls that you should be grateful for ANY GIFT you get, not only the ones you like or don't already have. We have started explaining to them that there are children with no toys, who don't have Christmas and that they are lucky to have what they have.
