haha! I usually made Matthias go with me for that reason. When I went alone it was ALWAYS during the day. There aren't too many scary people there around 3-6 (which is probably when I went the most). Plus that cop is ALWAYS parked there!
It was seriously $15-$20 more a shopping trip for us at Safeway for our regular items. Also, if you go at the beginning of the sales week (Wednesday or Thursday) the produce at Fry's is a lot fresher than Safeway and doesn't go bad as quickly.
Growing up, the two stores were opposite and so my mom would ALWAYS shop at Safeway for the same reason I would shop at Fry's when we lived there.
