Smile Gabriel is home :)!

We finally got to come home from the hospital late yesterday. It took them ages to get us discharged. Gabriel is supposed to return to school tomorrow. He's very glad to be home. He's still not eating very much and still gagging sometimes when I try to feed him or give him meds.

His kidney function had returned nearly to normal as of yesterday. We'll see his ped sometime in the next week to do some followup labs and such. I'm hoping his creatinine level will be normal at that time. We'll need followups with the nephrologist in January because we still have to address the kidney reflux issue, the reason he got the infections in the first place. They want us on a low dose antibiotic daily to hopefully prevent any more infections. We'll also follow up with endocrinology (we seem them every few months anyway for his hypoparathyroidism, so it's just a tad earlier than we would have normally seen them) and we'll also see Neurology. He had a few seizures in the hospital, the first he has had in 2 years .

Thanks so much for all your thoughts and prayers. It was really scary and stressful not knowing if his kidneys were going to be okay. It was also not the most pleasant way to spend Thanksgiving. My dad and stepmom brought a little turkey dinner up to us in the hospital which we ate in the tiny little "family kitchen" area. They weren't even allowed to go back and see Gabriel. Lena and I have decided to try for Thanksgiving, take 2 tomorrow. It won't quite be the same but I'm looking forward to it !
