But Desmond wasn't on the original flight 815. He was already on the island when that flight happened - had been for 3 years. He had already met Penny before the island or she wouldn't have been looking for him. Last night they had him flying back on 815 and Penny not existing to him yet. So his sideways is totally different from everyone else's who just came back from Sydney and continued their lives. They made it seem like the island didn't exist, not just the 815 crash, with all the Des/Widmore stuff.
Or else I'm missing something - I did watch the first 5 seasons pretty fast. But right now it's just a huge mess to me and I want to throw my hands up and quit watching.
